Party Pooper by Bibicio

[raw]
made by Bibicio for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

It's a beautiful night in the realm. The Time Wizard was throwing an amazing birthday party and everyone was invited!

The music was great, the guests were having so much fun, but alas, when the time came to eat the cake, disaster struck!

When no one was looking, the Knight, a pesky little one, ate ALL THE CAKE. ALL. ALONE!

cutscene_1.jpg

Infuriated, the Time Wizard cast a curse on The Knight!

"You shall have the worst dessert-related experience OF THEM ALL! In thirty seconds, the log shall be chopped, the brick shall be laid, the dookie shall be dropped, you shall lose control over your bowels! And it shall happen again, and AGAIN, FOR ALL ETERNITY!

cutscene_2.jpg

My my, what an astonishing turn of events! Will The Knight be able to alleviate themselves properly? Or will the halls of the Wizard's castle be stained by shame and sugary bits?

In this short roguelite experience, play as The Knight in a mad dash to find the little knight's room! Fight party-goers and minions of the Time Wizard, buy upgrades (where do they come from? who knows?) and experience potty problems over and over again.

Controls:

WASD - Movement

Space - Dash

Mouse - Aim and attack

I still refuse to believe such a polish and amazing experience was under 72 hours. The best part about the game was the artstyle of the game. Very very nice

Art is great! I've used the same music in a different jam before, but it suited your game much better. Unfortunately the game crashed when I killed the first enemy. Great little game, though

Very nice art style and feel. Sometimes the hitbox for the attack felt off and I wasn't really sure what the upgrades did, but overall pretty fun and cool.

The art was awesome! Nice! The game looks and feels fun and the toilet humor works.

@bixarrio oh no! was the crash on the windows downloadable build? The first web build I uploaded had that problem, so if you happened to play that one while it was still up, could I ask you to try again and see if it doesn't crash now? :)
And thank you for the kind comments!

Nice job! The art is incredible, the plot was super funny, and the diarrhea strangely fits super well with the theme haha. Gameplay wise, the concept was solid, complete bathroom laps while killing monsters. However, I didn't quite understand the upgrade effects, and most were a guess work for me. Also, the bigger monsters don't seem to drop more loot?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun, and I'm still surprised by the cool comic intro and plot that fit like a glove. Parabéns, arrasaram!

@bibicio It was on the web build. If you fixed it, then it's good. 😉

@scharma Obrigado! <3
If you hover the mouse over the upgrade icons, there is a short description of the item effect. Did it not work for you, or did you see it and would have liked a more detailed explanation?

And about the monsters, yeah, we had almost no time for balancing and actually forgot to make them drop more money xD (but they do give you more score value if you unlocked the score counter).

Very fun little game.

Love the art style, the story and item descriptions are the best 🤣.

Only thing I think it needs is a couple of sound effects and an animation for when the player attacks.

**Note:** there are a couple o UI problems when playing on a 21:9 monitor, but nothing that breaks the game.

Great art style and fun gameplay, though I think the best option was to just ignore the enemies and run? I got the balloon upgrade but didn't figure out what to do with the balloons.

@bibicio I replayed and saw the upgrade popup now - here is the problem, it only shows if you hover the sprite, and not the buy button haha

Art was on point to be honest. Story is pretty funny too. You've missed your chance to call it Stuck in a Poop tho

Great entry, the art style is amazing the controls are nice. The only issue is that there are no sound effects which I think would add a whole other layer to this already superb game. But all in all a great game.

I really liked the art style and color scheme. Story boards are the best. I am kind of grateful for lack of explosive diarrhea animation when you fail

I succeeded on the first try by just running past the enemies. The story was funny and the knight totally deserved it. You don't eat all the cake.

Very humorous game, from the menu screen I was expecting the main game to be a lot more polished, perhaps spend more time polishing the game rather than the menu? Then again I don't know what went on during development so perhaps that was not a conscious choice :) anyway fun little game but didn't have a huge amount of replayability to me as it got quite repetitive after 3-4 rounds however I did continue so that I could get all the upgrades!

I really liked the game and I found it very funny that it was too tight to go to the bathroom, at least for me it was not very clear the meaning of the items purchased, due to my being focused all the time on monsters, it would be wonderful if the game had secondary sounds hit, atk, and add the fullscreen button to the itch, the art is beautiful and well accompanied by great music and special effects, even on the menu itself, my congratulations a big hug to everyone on the team.

LOL this was so funny :) Humor was definitely the strongest point for me. I love the little comic prologues. Everything else suited the humor - the graphics were cute and birthday-themed, the music was whimsical, the attacks were thematic. The items were cute n funny too. I wish it was a little harder, maybe? It seems like etrealjunior had a hard time getting to the end, but it was quite easy for me; I just had to ignore the monsters and make a run for it. Anyways this was a great experience and if you continue working on it I'm delighted to see where it will go!

WOW!

This game was really funny! The comic at the beginning - that it is skippable once read. The upgrades, the ingame shop - the highscore. Just wow!

There are only two things which imho can be improved:
1. Allow me to play it in fullscreen ;-). I'd problem when starting it on your itch-page. So I looked up the url to the index.html and played it isolated. First then it took my WASD-input.
2. Add a settings page so that the sounds can become regulated

But as you can see: those things are not dramatic. Because of the humor this now is my favorite game of the jam =)
