GHOST FROM JAIL by Gilad Bar Ilan
GHOST FROM JAIL BACKGROUND Josh is a steeler that has come into the wrong place. Josh lives in the city of "Jailia", in Jailia there is the hut that no one ever wants to go to. Stories told to Josh that in someplace in the hut there is a lot of money. Josh of course, as a famous steeler doesn't miss the chance. He hacked into the hut in 3 seconds and started working on finding the money. However, Josh doesn't know a really important part, the ghosts that live in this house don't like guests, especially if those guests wants to take their money, In the second that josh put his foot on the door the ghosts have shown. From now on Josh's main purpose is not to take the money.
Josh's main purpose is to escape, Josh does not know that he will never be able to do it. But still, Josh will do as much as he can. From here it is your challenge, how long will you keep Josh alive? there is only one way to find out...
GAME EXPLANATION - The game is an endless runner based. Your main goal is to keep Josh alive, the way to do it is to kill as many ghosts as you can. The ghosts will follow you anywhere you go, try to avoid them by using energy balls. The ghosts can come in groups which makes the all deal much harder. What makes the game to be interesting all the time is the fact that the game does not go harder and harder any time. The hardest part of the game can come on the beginning it's all based on your luck. If you find yourself pushed into the corner you can use the second power of Josh which is teleportation, josh can teleport to a randomize place on the screen. BE AWARE because Josh's power has a huge disadvantage, this power can indeed save him, but on the other hand, Josh can be teleported directly to the ghosts' hands. In the hut, there are 4 types of ghosts. The red ghost is the fastest from all ghosts but also the weakest. The green ghost is the second-fastest from all ghosts but also the second weakest. The blue ghost is the second-slowest from all ghosts but also the second strongest. The Golden ghost is the slowest from all ghosts but also the strongest.

THE GOOD:
- Different ghosts are a nice touch
- Random teleportation is a nice mechanic
- Animations are great
THE BAD:
- The game gets difficult very quickly. (Lots of ghosts, moving very fast)
- Firing delay is very long. (Removing the delay would make this a fun shooter game)
- Would've been nice if the above story and instructions were in-game.
Nicely done for you first COMPO.
The game is fun but quite "simple", maybe adding one mecanics will make the game better.
Nice entry!
When I first started I got distracted by the teleport ability and forgot that you could move with WASD, so I thought it was really hard. Once I worked out I could move though things got a lot simpler and I really enjoyed beating all the ghosts :)
Would also recommend removing or moving all the background info you have in the description. I think most people are just interested in playing the game and are not interested in reading a ton before they play a game for 1-2 minutes. Using Markdown formatting to add heading etc. would also be helpful. The how to play should be front and center.
Great job!
The graphics are really cute, and the teleport ability is a nice idea. IF there was some way of shooting upwards, the difficulty would be a bit more forgiving.
All in all, nice work!
The game itself is a little challenging, I thought you could go into the doors at the top or if you were suppose to proceed to different areas. It might just be me being bad with computer controls lol, but I can't seem to get the teleport done right, do you use it and move? I think one of the things that would be nice to have is the ability to shoot in more than one direction, but then again, that's why you gave the teleport ability.
Overall, solid game, impressive work!
Nice that you made a tutorial. This really helps a lot!
I liked the graphics, it reminds me of those old cool flash games from 90's/2000's.
Music is very cool!
Places to improve:
Controls are a little off. Sometimes is hard to reach for T and F keys while you can't stop pressing wasd or you are dead.
Overall, good job!
Wanted to suggest a couple things:
Your description is way too long. Most of these games get played for one or two minutes, it definitely shouldn't take longer than that to read the games backstory, and typically the backstory isn't needed anyway (tbh I stopped reading and just played the game). I aim to only put the controls and maybe some hints in the description, assuming I don't have time to just put them all in-game.
Speaking on in-game controls/hints, you should wait for a player keypress before progressing.
On the positive side, I love the graphics and character designs in the game. Sound/music was good as well. Controls were simple but solid.
I like the style of the ghosts very much. They look really cool. Also that you can teleport is a nice feature. But instead of a random place you might could use the mouse for setting a target. Because at that point it is really a gamble if T will be helpfull or not. (If you want to avoid that the player jumps around to much: just add a condition. E.g.: 3 ghosts have to be killed before teleport can be used).
Imho the audio fits very good to the game :-)
Overall a good game which made play a couple of rounds =)
Mechanics are good - especially the T to teleport to a random location.
Nice work.
graphics match with sound design. It's quite fun, patterns of ghost works. I was involved in the game, foes were giving me difficulty (it's a good point for a runner).
**Here is my feedback:**
**What I liked?**
- I liked the music.
- Nice graphics.
- I liked the gameplay.
**What I disliked?**
- The description of the game is too long.
- The sprites have a very little low-resolution white outline.
- The default colour of the text.
- No need for home icon. You can make "Esc" for going back to the main menu.
- The bullet is too big, and doesn't look very good.
**Suggestions:**
- Maybe, summarise the description of the game.
- Maybe, start the game only if the player started moving.
- Maybe, add shooting SFX.
- Maybe, change the default text colour to black.

**Sorry for the critical feedback.**
