DJ, can you keep the party alive?!
Play us your hipster minimalistic electronic music :control_knobs: that the fellow kids are talking about.
If they vibe with you, they'll buy your merch - so check on the ALIVE-o-METER to see how you're doing.
When in doubt, bring out the big guns: fog machines :cloud:, confetti :sparkles:, and fireworks :boom:.
Play NOW on Linux (mirror), Windows (mirror), or macOS (mirror). You can also play on Chrome or Firefox, but there will be long loading times due to the 3D engine.

How to play
Use your mouse to left-click on the buttons. Each person has a 3x3 pattern that they want to hear. If you click on the buttons to light them and match a player's preference, they'll jump around in excitement. At the end of the round (30 seconds), you earn cash based on the ALIVE-o-METER results. Use cash to buy equipment (fog, confetti, fireworks) for even more energetic concerts.

Would've been cool if there was more incentive to try and please as many party guests as possible with the same pattern. Right now it's possible to just check them of one after the other and it still works.
Regarding playing in browser: I think if you implemented the in-between screen where you can buy the items as an overlay over the 3D scene, it wouldn't have to load the 3D again after every 30s of party.
Overall pretty cool though. :v:
@jamessauer Thank you! That's a good idea. I ran into these browser-based issues near the end of the game jam, so I didn't get time to refactor. For now, linux/windows/macos work best, but I should definitely rearrange it to get web polished.
You've come up with a really fun interpretation of the theme, and I had a lot of fun seeing how many patterns I could fit onto one pad. I wound up wanting more time per level to try and min-max my layout! Good job :)
This concept has to be improved cause this is so good of a concept not to pass up! Well done on that! I've been playing with Digital Audio Workstations before, but never applied it as a function to a game!!
I did find a cheese strategy though. After a while, since there's no rent to maintain yourself to coincide with the theme as well, keeping the party up is pretty easy once you have access to fireworks. Only using it at the last second.
You've outdone yourself in terms of play and makes up for it even if the graphics and music side of things are not good.
Had blast, had to keep it alive!
It's kinda a few good ideas that fit together in a neat package. A fun little puzzle, and also a tycoon, and also a music game? Sign me up!
I was playing in the browser, so the loading times were awful, and I just wish that it didn't have to load between levels, otherwise who knows how many rounds I would have played
What this game delivers is, in a very primitive way, how taste in music works, which I really liked.
The game idea could easily be extended upon, and overall I really had a great time. Few nitpicks:
- The 3D renders seem a bit overkill, especially seeing how they did not even render on the html version (that might just be on my side though)
- The 2D elements lack a bit of love and care, a bit of branding if you will. They do what they are supposed to, but especially the icons which are so crucial to the game and where most of your eye's focus lies feel left behind
Maybe settle either on 2d or 3d?
In any case, I had a fantastic time :D I made it to 17 Fog Machines, 6 Confetti and 2 Fireworks n_n
/edit: whoops, I just realized I can actually use the Party enhancers. Great game just got even better :D
- Unusual mechanic :heavy_check_mark:
- A hecking game loop on a game jam! :heavy_check_mark:
Awesome entry! I really enjoyed this one and appreciated your interest in making something new. Nice job!
