About

You control angry gorilla that wants to set its beloved one free. She is stuck in a hamster wheel and in fact you control her too. You need to keep generating energy until you find a generator.

The game is cooperative action platformer for one player :) You play both characters - gorilla-girl generates power to help gorilla-boy with moving around the facility. When power is off, alarm is fired and safety doors are closed.

There are also guards. They can shoot you if they are alerted. If you need to get rid of the guard, just get close to him. Gorilla will do the rest.

Beware, the game a bit violent but very short :)

If you came across some performance issues in web build (clunky movement, sound clicking, ...), try downloadable version.

Controls

  • C - generate electricity (in hamster wheel); you can use Shift but windows 10 doesn't like it
  • WASD/arrows - movement (SPACE for jump works too)

Action mode (post compo)

There is also action mode without generating energy (non-cooperative version)! It's post-compo version, though. Worth playing anyways :)

You can play it in browser here: Gorilla Power action mode (post compo) Or download executable from itch.io (links are below)

Platforming was ok, running into guards to kill them felt satisfying. But having to hit shift all the time got old fast. I beat the game so I realize there was a point to it, but it could've been done in a better way for sure.

shift is kind of a problem in windows 10 because if you press it repetetly it open an help windows

Other than that its a good game

@kromeboy oh! I tested in on mac :( thanks for feedback, this has to ruin the whole flow of the game. It´s kind of game-breaking issue so I fixed that (you can use also “C” now). You can try it again if you wish :)

It was really fun destroying the guards! I found it rather humorous one time when I hopped on top of the guard and it didn't notice me.

The ambient background noise was a bit too low of a note for my tastes, I had to mute the tab. Great work on the art, and the game was nice and fun! Nice entry!

Congrats on the entry! It was fun ramming into guards and I liked the challenge of attacking them before they one shot kill you - made me plan where to go and kept me thinking which is great.

The platforming felt a little clunky at times and some of the sounds were harsh towards the end, but issues aside this is a great entry. I had a lot of fun playing it, well done! :)

I had fun playing this game, and it's all that we ask in LD, is it?
This is a good game for a Compo, you did it well, good job!

Great work! Excellent creation in 48 hours, a full fledged fun experience! I appreciate that you included a check point as well! As @blobo shared in his screenshot, that's the only issue I ran into.. trying to kill guards when above them, and ending up getting shot when the attack event wouldn't execute after coming off their heads.. no biggy though, just added a tiny challenging mechanic towards the end of the level. Great job overall!

Oh, it was fun! I really enjoyed aesthetics of the game. Drum track fits gorilla mayhem perfectly! :D Gameplay feels a bit underpolished, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the game. Wonderful!

Pretty fun, the way that I charge at enemies is really cool!

really endjoyed this. The jumping and the speed just felt really nice. IU personally don't care for screenshake and the clicking of the "c" button and the "d" button to move and jump at the same time was kinda awkward for me. Other htan those tiny things, this was fun. :D

@commanderstitch Yeah, this mechanics wasn't probably the best choice :) That's why I made also "Action mode" without manually generating power, it's available here https://jhysek.itch.io/gorilla-power-action-mode. It's post-compo, though.. I'm glad it was fun anyway!

Nice little game. I really enjoyed ramming into those sticky guys with guns.
The web version was a bit shaky indeed, but still playable.
Nice entry overall.

The ending is super sweet. It was really enjoyable to play and two-hands controls were just fine. Although you could allow for some alternative to C button. With generator bound to C you pretty much have to use arrows to control man gorilla - WASD would be very uncomfortable.

I found that most guards don't mind when the gorilla stands on their heads. Hell, it's not even any cause for alarm for them. That made me laugh aloud - in a good way

@fabula-rasa C has an alternative actually. Or to be more precise C is an alternative :) Originally I designed it for Shift (you have left and right one so there is some variability). But when you are pressing Shift too often, Windows 10 pops some help window or so.. :) So I made C as primary key for it.

Yeah.. guards are tough guys, gorilla sitting on their head is nothing worth even noticing :)

Anyway I'm glad you like it!

A nice rather complete package, at least for jam games :)

Some sort of puzzles or more conditions based on when power is generated might've been nice, now you're pretty much just using the button to open doors. Great effort though!

Felt incredibly satisfying killing the guards!
Especially the moments leading to this:
![ld_s4.png](///raw/98b/d2/z/3a112.png)

Liked the idea of repeatedly pressing "c" to generate energy, but I tend to agree that the idea didn't feel realized to its full potential, which I get of course, its always a matter of time - especially for compos.

Played both versions, both were fun! Thank you for your great entry!

Another good game! I like the sound and graphics, with fitting music. The power generating mechanics aren't bad, but they get a bit tedious after a while without adding much. At first something felt odd about jumping (maybe the animation is too sudden?), but I got used to oit quite quickly and managed to find my way to the end. Thanks for the checkpoints!

I really liked this entry! I actually watched Phil play it and thought "I have to play that one, it looks like so much fun!" and I was right. It was fun, and the gorillas meeting again at the end was adorable. Great entry!

I like that you have to use the electricity in different ways to get over different obstacles, felt like jumping on policemen's heads would probably make them into dead policemen too, but I liked the running over animation and the absence of the jump attack made getting at them trickier and fun. Thanks!

Another wonderfully enjoyable platformer from you. I like how you can switch between making puzzle games and action games (like this one) such easily! Had a lot of fun letting the ape out! 🙊
