One Day Outside by romgerman

[raw]
made by romgerman for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Every day is all the same. Sitting in a lab, doing the same experiments over and over. But now you are pretty confused. You got a real, exciting experiment to do. You got a potato! Or is it not just a potato? Well, lets find out!

This is a story-based text game made with LOVE2D.

I didn't have time to make any sound effect and much graphics (made something but also don't have time to put it in the game). Hope you'll enjoy the story. 1.png 2.png 3.png

Note: 20.04.2020 i've updated file for windows because it didn't pack well before.

Interesting text based adventure. I tried but didn't manage to finish though, the game froze here:

The computer UI elements that pop up are also neat. A full text based game with small puzzles and minigames that pop up that way could be cool

Some sound would also spruce it up and add immersion.

Pretty cool game, it was fun exploring the little world you built! The grammar was a bit awkward in places which sort of hampered the immersion, but it still did the job and built a very appealing mood. Nice work!

Cool idea and I can tell a lot of thought went into writing dialogue!
++ lots of branching paths. Seems like it has a well thought out text navigation system
++ dialogue is really solid. Can tell a lot of the time went here and it really helps build an atmosphere

- I wish there was a way to go back
- I don't like feeling forced to see everything

A neat game with a compelling narrative. Some of the buttons were scaled weirdly on my 4k monitor, but it did not cause any issues. Well done!

Aaaaahh the game is so interesting but I got stuck! I took all items and got to the needles part, then chose a wrong command and the game is stuck on "ERROR: Not all steps finished". The idea of redoing all steps and getrting stuck again is unattractive...

Itr feels like some eastern european fiction with a dodgy english translation, I love it! So moody...

Nice game! Very interesting story. Liked the multiple choices we had, had a lot of fun exploring the house (oh god, I wish I didn't look into the wardrobe ). Of course some more graphics & audio would be nice but it's still already rather enjoyable to play. Good job! :)

I was getting invested into it but I froze at the same spot listed by Jefvel. I want to know what the potato is doing!

The game takes a while to get going! I was interested in the computer section, trying to figure out the correct sequence, but the game locked up on me about half way through that sequence. It's a nice idea and it would be good to see it developed into a more exciting game but cutting right to the chase of experimenting on the potato! Good job on your entry!

Like the way it keepы me in tension. Well written and have minimalist design. However the first time i played i stuck when i tried to convert some stuff on the computer and the game said me that not all steps finished and then I can't do anything. The second run i choose different options so i was able to pass this part.
Anyway good job for compo.

I liked the text but, if it's only a text based, Triple Check the grammar. I've lost the immersion sometimes duo to grammar in specific moments. Almost everything is correct, but that 1 chat ballon after 10 perfect ones threw me off. Also, the game frooze for me too, don't know if it was because i was reading too fast. With that said, nice work, this game makes it look like u've made 20 pages of text in 1 days, the rest was for implementing XD It's a sweet game to play, sice u referenced love2D, you did a good job.
