El Burritón by JakNak72
You live for Food, flavour and freshness, you like your Chili hot, your Burritos well rolled and your Nachos crunchy! As a chef you're determinded to keep your recipes alive and serve only the best food there is. But be aware, a day as a chef can get very demanding. The key to a good meal is a well timed and well performed task, while maintaining a cool head and fridge.

HOW TO PLAY:
In order to cook the recipes you have to push, press repeatedly and/or hold the keyboard buttons seen on screen. Keep a good eye on the thermometer of your fridge, since spoiled food won't help you create delicious meals and will end in certain DEATH!
Tip: Open and close the fridge every now and then, since some recipes (chili and burrito) require meat in order to be finished. If you press a button and it doesn't respond, every counterspace/stove is already in use, so finish the other orders first.
Can you beat this score?

The game didn't need any explaining, great graphics and audio. Perhaps if each order had some sort of progress bar to indicate how close you are to finishing it, would help at the start. Also I didn't really understand why I had to keep the two fridges cool all the time, but all the other tasks were fun to do and they were varied. I got to 9 orders and then I just wanted to see what happens if you lose.
Awesome, thanks for making this
P.S. And there is no exit button! Doing exit code takes less than 1 minute!
Cheers!
The only negative point I could express is the frustration of the "you run out of buttons" end. I guessed it's when you have too much requests on screen but even then I could not fathom how to avoid it and it's really frustrating when you're deep into it and this ending pops out. Maybe an "overwhelmed gauge" with the same mecanic (too much button requests on screen make it fill up) would make it less raging as you could see the end coming.
Overall I reeeeally enjoyed your game, it's a lot of fun. I have to go and rate other games but I'd clearly want to do a few more runs x)
Would be awesome if you would give it another shot with that in mind and tell us the score you got!
Everything was well made, I just felt that the UI / font choice could've gotten more love as it didn't feel on par with the rest of the game.
Good stuff!
While playing it a bit more, I had the time to form another suggestion in my head : when the pace builds up and the orders accumulate, the player wants to prioratize on the oldest orders so that they can get out of the way, knowing that most of the time there is only one step left to that "blimey order you have hanging there for 5 minutes". Following this idea, I think it would be great to color code the orders so that you can see in the blink of an eye what step is left on this particular order. That way, strategy would be increased and your game's lifetime too !
That's it for me, I still think your game is awesome ! Have a nice evening !
Excellent job!

* First of all, in my few plays I never had to use the right fridge. So for me it makes not sense to have a button to cool it down. Maybe I was not progressing far enough to have used it tho.
* I like the idea to play twister with your fingers, but it was very annoying that the buttons switched for each game. I would go for a fixed button layout, that way the player could really get better in the game, because they can memories the recipes and perform the required button requests out of muscle memory.
* As I got more and more recipes, I was not really able to recognize which step was used for which meal. So I would recommend to use some sort of color coding or similar, so that I know exactly waht to do to finish one meal and avoid the incoming list of meals to get full.
* I don't like the lose condition of running out of buttons at all. I know that there are only limited buttons on the keyboard but by following my second point you could resolve this issue. Maybe it would also make sense to match the position of the buttons to the position on the kitchen, to also give the player an easier way to make the eye to hand coordination of finding the buttons. Or the other solution to the problem, if you really want to keep the random buttons would be to delay the button instruction until the needed buttons are available again. Just don't let the player fail because of this.
* Last but not least, the kitchen looks really nice, but it feels very static. It would be cool if there would be some movement on the screen to keep the player entertained.
Please don't get my list of things to improve wrong. I really liked your game and you could improve on it.
Btw. I got your game recommended by your former student colleague Veit, who is now one of my colleagues in the Master's program ;)
This was a lot of fun, I think it is one of my favourites this LD. As mentioned during the stream, not having an N-key rollover keyboard introduces some unnecessary difficulty – which is really unfortunate, since the held keys added variety.
@aurel300 really enjoyed your stream as well! Great to hear that it's one of your favorite games!
@backurio @frozen-spirit the colorcoding of buttons and orders just got even higher on our todo list. Thanks for the feedback!
@backurio also thanks a lot for the other extensive feedback! Going to discuss it all with my teammates. The second fridge never has stuff in it. It's just there to annoy you :P Good to hear that you liked the game and greetings to Veit!

Good luck on your ratings, see you next LD! :D
