5 Minutes Before Halloween by Glaas

[raw]
made by Glaas for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Halloween is in a few minutes. This year, you didn't bother making a costume.

But the king of Halloween is not okay with that.

**"Five minutes. You will have to repeat the same five minutes, over and over, for all eternity, if you don't bring me a decent costume.

The clock is ticking."**

Explore your surroundings and try to find the scariest outfits to satisfy the Halloween King! Otherwise, you might be here a while...

Controls : Use the mouse and click wherever you want to go.

Can be played either in browser (fullscreen recommended !) or on windows.

Loving the music and atmosphere! The controls felt pretty floaty to me, and I found it a little frustrating to move around, especially inside the maze.

A shorter "loop" time might help with encouraging people to play through multiple times to find everything, along with a map of some kind to help remember where things were in previous attempts.

Really like the idea, the different character sprites are great and the gameplay "loop" is fun (even with the sometimes clanky controls), very nice entry :D

@aran-ink Thanks for the feedback ! I agree on the duration of the loop. As I will update the game to make it slightly bigger, I might also extend the time. Thanks again ♥

I really like the mood of the, especially because of the great audio. I also like your character design. Controls could be a bit smoother, maybe WASD-movement? But overall a good game!

Personally I would gone with arrows or WASD,

The bar on the top left was incorrect by the seems of it, the game seems to pass you even at 135 points but the bar doesn't fill up all the way. If that was intentional then i would of added a line where you need to pass to win.

The text effects were lovely and the music design/choice was well done, the graphics were well themed.

Making a game with spooks for October instantly scores point for me, especially when you manage to be on theme as well! The best part is without a doubt chatting with the different characters, it's both charming and funny. I had a good time trying to get a truly Sp000py outfit, well done!

I agree with the other players that I wish the motion controls were ASWD or arrow keys, but overall I liked the theme! I was spoooooppyyyy! :) Lovely art and audio!

Love the theme and the graphics but the movement felt awkward. I like the idea of having to hunt for scary costume parts by talking to people and getting hints but there wasn't enough time to talk to someone and then walk to where you think the costume piece is, but I guess that's part of the game mechanics. Using what you learned in previous nights
good work!

Great game and athmosphere. Was there an item in the maze? I found it hard to search in it. And is 160 the best possible or can you get more? Also very cool graphics.

Very well done. The theme didn't really come across for me, but it really didn't have to. I had a lot of fun with this one. It took a couple of tries but I finally got the 'Scary' score.

The game looks awesome! I would love to see this kind of style on a full game!

The game in itself is quite charming, I like the interactions with the characters. I agree with the other comments thought, the controls feel weird. I get it works like a point n' click, but often the pathfinding is weird and my character ends up going back because he think I want to go behind a bush instead of in front of.

Aside from that, great game, very fun and cute! Oh and I recognized the reference with the character design ;)

Great job! I love your art and the music :) Maybe you you might have used the keyboard keys instead of the mouse for directional controls for smoother movements.

This was a fun game! The characters had fun dialogue and findings the masks was pretty enjoyable!
The movement seemed a bit weird but it did work for the game. Well done ^^
