Keep your robot alive in this Tower Defense, block programming game! Get those bugs out of here!

Controls:

  • Left-Click: Buttons / Drag-and-Dropping
  • Right-Click: Connect chips
  • ESC: Menu

How to play:

  • Drag and drop the programming chips on to the Chip Zone (yellow).
  • Use Right-Click to connect the PLAY button to a chip, and connect a chip to another chip.
  • Hover over chips to see their functionalities.
  • Press PLAY to run your program on the robot.
  • Kill all the bugs to finish a wave!

Special Chip: REPEATER

This chip has one extra blue register zone. Connect this to one of the digits on the scoreboard, and the repeater will repeat the next action the same amount of time as the digit!

I don't understand how the game works. And the UI doesn't scale to the actual size of the game. I can't resize the game though.

The idea seems really good so I'm gonna give you points for innovation, however there's a bug with the UI where it cuts off and you basically can't play the game. Please ping me when you fix it and I'll try it again ;)

It's a very fun game when you get what you have to do. There are some bugs though.
1. You barely can click some chips
2. Sometimes the bugs don't move

I did end up having the same UI issue as others, but overall I think the general idea and gameplay is interesting. Just touching up the UI in terms of showing the connected lines on top and it being scaled proper and you'll have yourself a good entry.

Not sure if it's a resolution issue, but when I open the game it's in windowed mode and the screen is too small to show everything.

Same problem as everyone else. UI doesn't fully display. Also I couldn't get anything to connect to the play button. It would only allow one connection and would reset all connections when making a second.

Cool idea, programming game for a jam where the most of players are programmers is quite clever! ;) I enjoyed coding robot movements altough it would be a bit better if I wouldn't lose connection when I'm moving blocks (you know.. for refactoring purposes ;)

If I would consider to make this kind of game for a game jam (and I kind of did since one of final themes was automation), I would probably refuse to make it because I feel it's too big scope for a few days - but you have made it! That needs appreciation, great job guys!

@skill347 @pixel-mush @imp1 @alexhicks @curtis-pelissier Sorry everyone, there was a bugged version with cropped screen that was left up on itch.io. That has been removed now and the current version should work.

I chose the game's name ironically, but even I didn't intend the level of irony :)

I replayed it, the UI problem was fixed. It still took me far too long to figure out how to get the play button connected. Because you don't actually connect it to the play button but a grey bar that is very similar in color to the background. I always have my brightness turned all the way down on my monitor and I could hardly tell there was something there, I only accidentally came across it after just clicking all over.

I really enjoyed the core mechanics ! I like to plan and find a way out to optimize chips. Even if the game is not challenging for the moment. Use one digit of the score to repeat one action, was such a good idea ! I will like to play a 2.0 version ! If you develop this on mobile, the player can plan actions by sliding finger on the chips ! And maybe give a rythm, by adding a timer.

I like the idea of the game and the artwork and music is nice. The learning curve is quite steep, since every item is there from the very beginning. They could be introduced one after the other. Also it would be nice to have the repeating block already from the start, because to change the block for every move is quite slow. At some point I had a bug, where the game said it was enemies turn, but there was nothing happening anymore. Nevertheless a nice fun game for a game jam.

I had a really rough time getting this going, but once I did it was pretty cool little programming logic puzzle solving game! Really could use in-game instructions, even though they are on the hosting page. Or possibly include them in the download as a READ-ME-FIRST.txt or something. I didn't realize I needed to connect to the little grey block beside the play button, which got me stuck for like 20 minutes. :P

All in all though, the experience was solid. Great graphics, audio, and overall presentation! Great job!
