VampySitter For Ludum Dare 46 "Keep it Alive" (WASD and mouse)
Design, graphics, music && programming: MacDoom

There's a suicidal Vampire loose in his castle! And you are his... VampySitter!!
He waked up looking for someone to satisfy its unspeakable thirst of BLOOD.
Help him find suitable sacrifices for his monstruosity. Move the camera with the malevolent WASD keys.
Look out for his thirsty meter on the upper right corner for its emptiness shall end Our Vampy's life! Stop reading! Go for Your master's food!
Look out for those Pointy stakes! Just click them out our vampy's way.

Beware of the deadly pits of hell as the castle change their location beneath the shadows. One false step and your vampy-sitting check will never be yours.
Luckly you took a Garlic from your momma's kitchen. Use it to take him away from danger!... or bring them to sweetness. Use it also to go with your meal somewhere safe and cozy.
If danger lurks too close or suppertime is getting late you can always "persuade" your vampy to go rapidly to some direction with your trusty cross.
Lets keep Vampy alive!

Once I figured out the controls, I had a blast. Fell out of my chair laughing when the vampire first jumped down a pit.
Absolutely nailed the theme; most creative submission so far.
Really had a blast playing your game!
Thnx for the compliment =O)
Congratulations on your entry, lovely graphics!
@hamzeh Liked that recipe. Keep on you chernobyl simulator!
@fluto Excellent game! I had to play till winning! Congrats to all your team
@frozen-spirit Are you using windows? Is the only port I can make for now. Or is it an Itch.io prob?
One criticism though, the gameplay can feel a little sluggish, moving the camera to look for victims is really slow and I rarely used the garlic, instead using the cross since it moved the vampire so much faster.
Really impressed with the game overall though.
Now let's take a look to that Baby Dragon!
@ahistyap thanks for playing and feedback :)
@palvel Many obstacles and features of the original idea couldn't make it as programming + animating + audio creation all by myself was really time consuming. For the next jam I'll be harder, better, stronger and faster :)
Thnx for the feedback.
Excellent work with the Necromancer! The selection process is an important, yet overlooked, responsibility of a man who wants to raise a family.
@eulalia-porto-figueroba Thanks for playing. I really enjoyed your game!
Loved it.
Art looks awesome and music adds to the creepy mood immensely. Add some time to polish few minor issues related to vampire getting stuck on level borders and this could be nice game outside of game jam.
Cheers!
It took a while (or rather, it took some vampire deaths ;)) to get used to the controls. At the beginning, I was quite confused. It's not easy commanding the vampire around!
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback!
I had some issues figuring out the controls and felt it could have been slightly easier to start, I got insta killed by the first log quite a few times (until i realized you could click on it and break it).
Definitely an enjoyable experience.
@vernalbehemoth Yeah, it's a hard game. In the future will be a tutorial stage for that.
@DocGeraud Pun acknowledged jajaja! Congratulations for you entry. Tres jolie et artistique
You can get stuck in the game for a long time. :) It would be great to add a result counter to compare the time and number of victims in different sessions.
@primum-ludum The result counter is going to exist on a future update. thnx for the feedback.
@gwinnell For the organs I used Jeskola buzz's organ machine, it's free. The visibility circle is a great idea! It's going to my changelist right away. Loooved your game! Been playing a lot of retro FPS this month and you goit it right on spot.
good job!
Feel maybe the camera should follow the mouse and not have separate controllers. Think that would feel more natural.
Audio was mostly great. There was a small bug with the music which played at game over, as it didn't stop when pressing restart, and then continued to play on top of the starting track. A small yet annoying bug, but as you probably ran out of time to focus on small quality of life fixes like that one, I'll give it a pass xd.
Another nitpick: on the difficulty selection screen (along with the rest of the minor UI you had in place), it would have been nice to be able to use the mouse, as it can be used in the actual gameplay too.
Overall tho, I think the biggest issues in the game were the controls, camera movement (which does work as expected, but felt a bit unintuitive) and the lack of explanation. Without reading the jam page, the controls and the objective were quite unclear to dechiper from the game itself. You did at least have the controls listed in the help section of the main menu, but if you could have somehow taught them through gameplay or a short tutorial it would have helped a lot. Remember: people don't read!
But despite the few flaws I mentioned, I think you still have a great LD entry here. For a one man team, I must congratulate you for this achievement! A quite unique and stylish jam game, great job!
