made by Akusan for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

You have a Deckling and you need to give it stuff from your bag to keep it happy, clean, rested, and healthy. If only you can figure out what these weird stuff in your backpack does.

Make sure you don't run out of items! title.pnggame shot.pnggame.gif

Interesting game! I really liked the variety of cards and the humor =). My first game my cardkin became a comedian, the second I made tons of money, and the third I fed it nothing but catfish, but apparently that was a bad end.

It's a good game, although I wish I had a hint of what the cards did... No need for detailed stats, just wondering how to not get comedian again lol

Super interesting, cool concept. Cute programmer art haha. Super difficult to get the hang of, but that's part of the fun. Trying to figure out the meaning of everything. Good job bro!

Hi @akusan! I liked the concept of your game! I didnt catch what each card does, and I was trying at first to sell everything to know the costs of each card. After, i understood that books and going to bathroom gets the Deckling a faster road to hollywood. So I ended trying to give him only food and balancing what I can sell for a higher price and keeping books and those kind of stuff. I reached 5 days doing it.
And i liked the humour in the cards! Congratulations!

I enjoy this game and it's idea, however my biggest issue is that it feels that I have no effect and then the game ends. Having visible stat bars that go up would be nice and maybe certain cards lower one stat and can increase another. The other big issue is that what I ended up doing is selling all cards down to 1, buying as many cards as I could, repeat, feed the pet a few times, and then repeat whole process which wasn't particularly interesting. I think if those got fixed, you would have a really fun game. Other than that, I like it. The pet is super cute. I like his animations.

Hahah the descriptions was a nice touch. Carrot is my favorite. I can feel you haven't had the time to polish and just made it but it's fun even like this. Only problem was not feeling the effects of the cards (as mentioned by every other comment lol). Neat game!

I'll just echo what others have said here. It felt very random playing through, and the game ended abruptly. Nothing a few quality of life updates wouldn't fix. Stat bars, as someone mentioned, and some indication of when the game was getting close to an end. Great creativity and variety on the cards!

fun little game, maybe just needs some hints on what the cards do

Thanks for everyone playing my game! I wish I had more time to polish and more card balances and give you a much more fun experience. One of the design intentions was to experiment what the weird cards do. This game does have multiple endings (win and game over conditions) but it just so happens the Hollywood ending was too easy to get.

Cool concept and really funny cards. I got the Hollywood ending multiple times, I tried different combinations but ended up there. But a really funny game and novel!

I couldn't work out what the cards did, maybe you could have indicators for whatever effect they cause? Would be a lot of work to integrate into the deckling animation but maybe just a set of metres or something

The game was cute. The funny card descriptions were the best part of the whole thing, but like most other people here are saying the game really needs some sort of indicator to tell you what each card does. It felt like I could just spam click on as many cards as possible and just automatically win more often than I lost.

Cute game, but I did not really understood what the different cards do. Just clicking randomly on the cards most often lead to a quick win.

I like the gentle tone of the game. I was confused as to how to make things progress. Consider adding animations for items visually going in and out of bag. Also, consider replacing the bag with a table or a shelf so player can always see what they have. Overall, this is a great start on a game :-)
