Circuit in Distress by LyghtningWither

[raw]
made by LyghtningWither for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

We all know that a computer needs to stay charged in order to operate. However, John the computer is not being charged! Why, oh why must this tragedy happen?

Well, in the roots, this is because John is an old computer. Due to his owners having to stay home all the time, their electricity usage has jumped high into the sky. Since John's owners have newer computers than him, the owners decided to stop charging him. What an outrage!

Help John use his limited electricity supply to annoy his humans around him into opening the dark closet that he is in, and plugging him in.

@soarendev I forgot to publish the game. You should be able to play it now.

I survived for 2:06. I'm terrible at this game, my fault, not yours :-) Nice idea!

The game was very confusing to play.. and it was hard to track progress once people got close. I also think the music in the background could use a little work, but I liked the innovation to the theme!

Interesting concept, however I'm not sure what is the strategy there. I've got him plugged in mostly by pressing random buttons. Nice visuals and sound though.

I can access the game, but I can really not figure out how to gain electricity. What am I supposed to do with the attention? It feels like the best time I can get is just letting the game tick without doing anything.

Nice visuals though, and it feels like a fun idea behind it!

Too loud maybe? But overall interesting, the graphics are not very good. The idea is great, good job :D

@airwaffle You need to get a human's attention high enough for them to plug you in. You cannot get electricity otherwise.

Cool idea! The concept of this game is really good, as well as the design and graphics. I fell like if the commands sort of helped people get through a level (for example: doing one noise could make people move left) then this game could easily be expanded upon. Overall, this is a really good compo entry!

I really like the idea, nice short and replayable experience, got my time down to 25 seconds.
Audio and visuals are pretty good and as a whole add to the experience
Good game. Well done!

Interesting concept, I found it difficult to understand when I was doing well, as well as the roles of the AI within the game. The effects that you've added are great though, and I'd love to see your idea more fleshed out!

A cool idea but I feel like the game is unfinished: what am I exactly suppose to do? How is attention casted on the persons? However, what I really liked was that the audio part was quite complete.

Haha, it happens^^

I found quite hard to understand how I was advancing towards my objective. It took me several tries to get that I had to make the people come closer, and then making them open the "box"^^ Possible actions descriptions indicate "That can make them check their phone", "That can draw attention" but I found it quite hard to really know what was drawing them, and what was making them open.

But anyway, after some tries I got it, so I guess it works with trial and error :)

Anyway, I liked the concept, it's a very good take on the theme, and the game by itself was quite well polished! And more importantly, I had fun playing it, so good job there! :D

Funny idea, I think it fits the theme pretty well. I liked the idea of playing as a dying laptop that cannot move or take action in physical space, but only beg for attention. Some of the options didn't seem as effective as others, I think it might play better if there was more variety or complexity to how you affect humans.

Interesting twist on the theme. I found the gameplay pretty straightforward after initially reading the instructions. I liked trying to annoy people with the loud fans :) Being graded on "time alive" seemed confusing; a lower score is better, no? I liked the sound effects. Thumbs up.

I like the idea. But I'm awful at this game XD I really like the lighting and it looks already very polished for a gamejam game

Great concept. Mechanics and resource management was cool! Maybe make the options that you don't have energy for unavailable.
