Keep the Yellow Flower Alive

Why?

Yellow flower decided that the two of you are moving to a new corner of the meadow. It is pretty dry and there are plenty of beetles around with only one thing on their mind (flower dinner).

How?

| Action | Key | | ------------- |:-------------:| | Move | WASD | | Shoot | Arrow Keys | | Buy Upgrades | Return | | Restart Game | R |

When?

Now

Hollywood-produced game trailers:

PICKUP WATERDROPS (EVERY SINGLE WATERDROP is FULLY SIMULATED AND CAN BE PICKED UP!): pickup_waterdrops.gif

KILL your worst enemies (BEETLES!): kill_beetles.gif

Keep the Yellow Plant alive by watering it when it is thirsty (thirst is also completly, realistically simulated in this game!): water_plant.gif

The Shop

You can also, at any time in game press the Return Key to enter the shop and buy upgrades against the beetles who get stronger all the time!

Thanks to https://soundcloud.com/loonmirage for making the great soundtrack and to my brother for helping with the graphics and doing some great playtesting. The water drop sounds are from freesound.org

I love that plant guy and his animations. Well done!

Nice simple game, the guy animation is very funny. It should have been good to be able to shoot with mouse and aim a bit, having the shoot locked to arrow directions felt wierd for me, but well done overall.

I really like the player character. The music is extremely pleasant too. Very chill game. Lots of shop upgrades too.

Very interesting that the droplets are used to heal the plant and kill the bugs, I like it!

The graphics and animation were great! It was a little difficult which I really liked due to the number of water droplets vs the number of beetles coming. Great job.

Nice simple game. It's a pity that beetles are spawning only from 4 points and are going in straight line, but overall not bad. I managed to reach level 10. I guess there are no more levels later. Cool solution of raising the number of drops required to raise the level. I would work on removing this green background too.

EDIT:
Thanks for cinematic trailer!

A nice concept for a wave-based shooter! It would be good if you could buy multiple upgrades in the upgrade screen before it resumes to the beetle onslaught. I got to round 11, and after a while the bullets aren't moving fast enough to be able to reach the beetles in time before they kill your flower! It would be good if one of the upgrades increased the speed of your bullets. Good job on the entry!

@bex-betton thanks very much for the constructive feedback. Round 11 is pretty good, the highest one I have heard of is someone making it to round 13. Yeah, the bullet speed and the speed at which you can shoot should be increased

@dukebot you are right, shooting with the mouse would probably be nicer. I'm not sure anymore how binding of isaac did it, but there you also could shoot with the arrow keys and it didn't feel bad. But I think in their case you where not restricted to 4 directions only

Quite fun! I liked the animation of the player and it was interesting to use both WASD and the arrow keys. Can't remember the last time I played a game with that sort of control scheme, and it works nicely. Much more accurate than mouse aiming which can get clunky if not balanced correctly. But at the same time, arrow keys restricts you to 4 directions only
All in all good job!

In the beginning I thought that it was quite easy but then it turned challenging and I was struggling to keep the yellow flower alive....and all the while the little green fella was still running around waving his arms around.
The combo of the silly graphics and the stressful situation really made it a pleasant little game so really well done on that!

Nice little game, reminded me of game Pssst I played on ZX Spectrum long time ago . The controls were not really easy to get used but I guess aiming with mouse would have made it a bit too trivial. Gets pretty hard very fast especially when droplets spawn far from the plant. Keep up good work. Cheers!

I thought it was a nice, spimple game. I only thought the water droplets did not hold enough water but that's only feedback.

I also made a similar game:

Nice little shooter. At times it felt like there should be more "ammo" (or fewer enemies) but other than some balancing it's pretty solid.

The art and music were both charming and adorable and I love the concept of picking up bullets to fire! Personal taste, but I found that between managing the beetles, the plant, and the water droplets, I would have preferred that the player controlled a little more tightly with less momentum, since the slippery movement took away from my enjoyment of managing my water.

I also appreciate that the game let me live my quarantine fantasy of hoarding toilet paper

Overall, really solid game!

It is very good, difficulty increased really fast and with the store you had more choices. You can make this more variety. Good Job

It was quite fun but I forgot that I could upgrade my character... But I still somehow made it to level 7..... Good job!
