Dino Chomp by diaonic

[raw]
made by diaonic for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

Dino Chomp is a 2D platformer focused around getting the Dino to the meat. I loosely followed the theme with the wall mechanics.

Movement: WASD Dash: Left Shift Jump: Space

Hey quick tip: on itch.io use the click to launch in fullscreen option for displaying. It is usually far more pleasant. And also it does not force you to play in fullscreen.

Got it, thanks for the tip!

A fun Platformer with a nice mechanic.

The controls felt good only the dash felt wierd with how you instantly lost all momentum.

I don't know you still have 2hrs til the deadline. You could try to modify it a little

Like it! Cute little animations!

The controls get a bit choppy and not very fluent.

Also, I keep dying randomly in the level with grass and flying spikes at start even though I am on a platform.

I had a lot of fun playing this game! As some people have said, I think there are a few places where the gameplay could have been smoothed out (for example some of the world boundaries were kind of tight so you'd like if you jumped too high). But that didn't stop me from enjoying the platforming and beating it.

I wish there had been more use of the running aroudn the side of platforms mechanic since I thought it was pretty fun but I only got to use it once.

@schsam i had a lot of fun making this game and during testing the wall walk mechanic was showing every level had multiple paths to the goal. The first real level I counted 5 different ways of reaching the goal. Thanks for playing and the feedback, I’m always learning from these events!

Really fun game, awesome work for a compo as you have cool graphics, really nice music and nice and innovative gameplay. If I was picky, I would say that the world rotation could be smoothed and that wall jump seems kind of random (but I might also have failed to understand it xD) but I really enjoyed this. Congrats

Who doesn't like a dinosaur game? A nice platformer with fun graphics. A few tweaks could make the gameplay much smoother. A smoother rotation around the dinosaur during the wall climb and smoothing the speed out of the dash could make the transition smoother and less jarring. That said, the game is enjoyable and plays nicely.

I really enjoyed this and the little dinosaur was so cute! I like how the first few levels explained the mechanics to you. The music was pleasant to listen to and wasn't obtrusive. All in all I thought the game was done well. Sfx would have just added to the experience. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Looks great. The planform moving around as the dino was messed with my head was really cool. Music fit the game really well. The wall jumping needed a bit more work but overall amazing!

World needs more dinosaur platformers, to be honest. Big fan. I like how many mechanics you were able to accomplish in 48 hours, and it's really very impressive the breadth of level design you included.

Very cute dino - I like him a lot. All the mechanics are great, making for a really nice platformer! Like others, the wall jump did seem a bit off to me and the world-rotation was quite jarring, but overall a really great game.

Pleasant game! I'd add some background so you could know where you go. Less inertia when jumping would feel better, but I didn't have much problem completing the game. Had fun. Thanks![dino.png](///raw/416/z/3996f.png)

Nice little game! some very cool mechanics. The instant gravity switching was a little jarring but for a weekend project I think this was great. Well done. One of my favorite compo games I've played so far.

Inconsistent artstyle between tutorial texts and gameworld. Missing a background texture which would help the brain picture the play area better. Turning on a wall is a bit too teleporty and snappy (a similar problem to my game's teleporty movement) :) Awesome art on the characters and objects and overall cute and nice game. :)

So cute! Really liked how you could wall walk to solve some of the puzzles. I am terrible at jumping between walls but that might be just be me lol. Anyway props for this game, I really liked trying to get this cute little dino to his meat ;)

Neat little game! I really liked the wall-running mechanic and how it opened up each level to different approaches. The platforming wasn't bad either! Solid compo entry.
