A little more clarity on what the objective is (and how to quit) would have helped a lot. Very interesting!

Nice entry! The monochrome pixel art aesthetic suits the gameplay nicely.

I was a little confused before I read the game description, but after playing a bit I got the hang of it. I suppose the idea is that you bumble into things a bit, map out the area, and then try to run through and optimize. This gameplay loop was nice once I knew what to look for.

It would be neat if there were procedurally generated levels, or more hand-selected ones.

This is almost a good entry! It just needs some more clarity.
This is mostly the case because I was just going into the next area with most of the things that is not a wall or the exit useless. I wish there's more you can do but that's Ludum Dare, no?

As for the music, sometimes no music is better than having a bad one. The loop is loud and more annoying than helpful, sadly.

It would be better if there's more levels or some dedication to some procedurally generated ones. That's be very cool!

@curiouslycory I wanted to keep the explanation minimal but I should have definitely spent more time on making the loop alot clearer. Yes quiting! thats something I wish I had just thrown in as a key. Thanks for the feedback!

@jeremy-ryan Thanks! the art was something I made first and enjoyed the 1-bitlook so decided to stick with it.

You are spot on with mapping out the area in your head then optimizing but I agree in that procedurally generating the levels would be a good way to add variety if I were to return to this and flesh it out.

the art style is really cool. I can see this being played on a Hackaday Superconference badge!

I think art and sound are good for a game jam game.

But 2 levels are just enough to get the hang of the mechanics. So this game real needs some more levels, so you can actually do something interesting with those mechanics

A super simple and fun little game. I would have liked a bit more levels, and a introduction/tutorial. Overall a fine little jam game.

Quite liked the monochrome art style. The mechanics are a bit obscure - the target is clear but takes a while to realize you "discover" tiles on the board. Maybe a bit of explanation or tutorial would help.

I cannot open .rar file(( Message appears that it is probably damaged. Tried to download multiple times with different browsers.

@ilya-nazarov I was able to download it in multiple browsers and PCs and opened. Sometimes chrome waits for your prompt to keep it. I think in that case if you click the arrow next to the download on chrome there should be a "keep file" option.

You may also need to grab either 7zip or winrar both are free and will extract the file. Let me know how you go thanks.

While I like the idea, I wished the levels were procedually generated instead of the two levels being the same everytime. It kinda defeats the purpose of the high score if you can just memorize the level elements.

Still, not bad for your first LD entry (and a Compo one at that).

I like the art and audio, but I think the mechanics could be improved.

I understand you reveal tiles as you move, but it doesn't feel like an informed decision from the player's perspective.

But all the same, congratulations on finishing and posting a game!

I really liked the art style and the audio had some 8-bit vibes in there. I was a bit confused at first of the mechanics, but got the hang of it after a while. More levels and maybe an info box at the start of all of the items you can encounter would be nice.

Nicely done!

Hey thanks for checking my game, i managed to play yours as well! Kudos for using Construct, i used it too for my game. Theres mostly Unity on here so its refreshing! I was very confused by what to do in your game, or even which character i was in the game :P So perhaps a little tutorial would be good, but i saw its a Compo game so i was a bit more generous with the rating.
