Bravo
Had an absolute blast playing this. The graphics blend in perfectly with the gameplay. Audio was also really good. My tips would be to show the explosive counter on screen a bit longer and I found the workers to be pretty tough to dodge sometimes in the later levels. Really fun game, will probably play again sometime!
#### Things I liked
- Great soundtrack
- Clean sound effects
- Simple but effective graphics
- The mouse's character
- That dithered lighting effect is incredible
#### Things that could be improved
- The movement around walls feels a little bit sticky, but only on corners.
- Some explanation about how getting hit works: sometimes I could get hit once, sometimes twice before dying.
- Mark the download as a windows build on itch.io so people can download it in the desktop app.
Overall, this is a polished entry, and an effective idea, but next time I would try to incorporate the theme into the gameplay loop, rather than being mostly thematic (as counter-intuitive as that sounds).
The graphics, music and the sounds are good ! And it controls really well !
The only criticism that I can make, it was on the search of the dynamites, indeed I found that it was hard to find them, unlike the next levels, there is no a visual feedback for these elements.
For the drawback maybe a better sprite/animation for the main character would have been nice. Anyway good job !
You have to get digging correct for this game to be fun, it would be tedious to deal with a janky digging mechanic. You've done the right thing dedicating the time to get the digging feeling fluid and juicy. Digging diagonally and hitting multiple blocks is REALLY satisfying!
I love some of the details in this, like enemies having a little stun window to help you deal with them, being able to see their stun and dust particles in the dark, and damn, there's an ending!
I'm also glad of the nice long music loop, that was a lovely piece that never got annoying.
Constructive criticisms - Sometimes there is no visual distinction between diggable and undiggable tiles. Sometimes a second texture used which is great, and I'd love if this was carried through to all levels. I like the light shader, but sometimes the dithered pixels have a fast scrolling effect that can hard to look at. This didn't seem to happen often though, so this is a very minor point.
Thanks for submitting your game!
Frustrated by the instant death a few times, would be good to have some opportunity to get away, but did make it pretty tense by the end! enojoyed it a lot, thanks!
