Hard Vacuum: Keep Out by unnamed1334

[raw]
made by unnamed1334 for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

You are an AI controlling part of a advanced production ship sitting gin the middle of space. You control the door.

The people on the ship are prone to acting lazy, breaking random thing, and setting things of fire.

Keep the ship running by supplying air to the crew and not supplying air to the fires.

Try to keep up with production goals.

Game lacks a end state. Keep producing paperclips to the end of time.

Controls:

W-A-S-D to move the camera

Click on vents and door to turn them on or off.

Note:

Toxin indicator was for a mechanic that didn't make it into the game.

Units and fire consume air and will die if all the air is removed.

Air will travel between rooms if the door is open.

Vents produce air at a slow rate.

I really like the idea but I don't know how to play the game. Some more instructions on how to play would be great or possibly a tutorial. Would love to play it in the future.

I think the lives count is off. It started around 3 and then went to -3 when I had about 4 guys left.

The difficulty curve is backwards. The beginning of the game is intense with a lot of people starting a lot of fires. The end of the game is boring, waiting for the clock to tick down (and nothing happens when the clock runs out). Maybe start with a small number of people, and buy more with production?

It would be nice if the red folks (I'm guessing injured) could go to a medbay and heal back up

It would also be nice if the crew would run away from the dang fires!

So I think there is a lot of polish that can be done, but this is a solid foundation and could be the start of a cool game! Congrats on the good entry.

The idea is nice, but the game leaves a bit to be desired. The graphics don't look that nice, it's not clear what you're supposed to do in the beginning, and it's a bit unpolished, but nothing a little work can't fix! And if you're just bad at graphics, pixel art is always easy!

More explanations need be given to help players understand what is going on. The game also lacks certain visual feedback, such as interactable objects being not so distinctive from the rest. I'm gonna assume that only doors and vents are clickable based on the text above. The idea is quite cool tho, and the game can benefit from better execution. Keep up the work :D

I agree with madbarron. When I jumped in, I had no idea what to do until I had lost half of the crew, and then nothing else really happened. I enjoy this type of game, but I was kind of disappointed that it isn't really done.
