Marx And His Dog by KeyVote

[raw]
made by KeyVote for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

This is a 2D Platformer about Marx and his dog. Follow their journey :). There are some bugs, this was the first game I have ever finished in Unity and I'm pretty proud even though how it looks lmfao.

Edit 1: Made it so you can go fullscreen on the web version of the game, because your health UI was missing.

It is rough, but that's where we all start. You should see some of my first game jam games haha. Great job finishing and submitting. Keep at it!

Good for a first game
BTW don't you think you jump too high? I can't see where I land

@devesh-sharma Thanks. There is a bug where you jump really high for some reason, I didn't have time to figure that one out.

Hahah I thought the high jumping was a twist in the platformer genre. Nice little first Unity game. Keep at it!

Nice first game, however it is really hard to control the jumping. The camera is too slow and i cannot see where I am going.

@bajtix Thanks. Yeah the camera is too slow and the jumping is buggy lmfao, thanks for the feedback anyways.

This is a good try. Finish to make a playable game is not easy. I like the two main characters. But there's a lot of problems with the camera and the jump that make the game unplayable (or very difficult ^^). The jump go very high and the camera move very slowly... So we loose the focus on the characters and in this kind of game the control is the most important... But keep making games! You will make something better next time!

Nice start, but like others, it's difficult with this hight jump, and the camera that follow the player realy slowly.
On your itch.io page, try to allow to start the game in full screen. I have seen that your game have an UI by editing the webpage, and making the game screen bigger.
Try to fix theses, and you will have a good little game, where you can add a lot of fun things !

Congratulations on your first jam!

Great idea for a platformer. The jumping sound was on point and the graphics are very nice (tho your interpretations of the dangerous evil free market capitalism are rather abstract).

I was very impressed by your smoothly following camera, but as many pointed it out it didn't help that the characters jumped way too high.

@rayriver Thanks, and will do.

@natwomb Thanks, and you too.

@matootsy Thanks man, I think I learned a lot from this experience so my next game jam game is gonna be better, I hope lmfao. The high jump was not intended, it seems that for some people it happens everytime you jump, but for me it only happens once or never, so I didn't really have time to figure that bug out.

@larnin Thanks man, I will make sure to make a better camera next time! I made it so you start the game in fullscreen on itch.io now, I didn't know you could do that and it's much better now, thanks!

@cheesepencil Thanks, I liked your character art too, it was unique!

@voidsay Thanks! The jumping sound was made in less than a minute with sfxr lmfao, but I'm glad you liked it. Glad you liked the art too, I'm not good at drawing, but I'm glad someone liked it. The dangers of the free market are illustrated in the enemies, it's very deep, trust me. The camera was actually made with the help of a video from Code Monkey and with my own changes added to it. I'm glad that you liked the camera, but yeah the camera is too slow.
