Memories by Artaupossum

made by Artaupossum for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

First Game Jam and the first game I finish. It is a narrative game, a man remembers his loved one. He must keep his memory alive. I ran out of time, and I had to go short to finish on time. But I am delighted! I managed to finish!memories.p8_5.gif

Congratulations on both your first jam and your first finished game!

I always have a lot of respect for narrative games, especially because I seem to not be able to make any myself. The experience is a bit short and I am a little confused by what happens at the end with the footsteps (?) that vanish when I touch them (?), but I assume that's because you had to cut the game short. I liked the art and the music! And it's cool that you even put in a cutscene at the beginning.

I'm looking forward to see more LD games from you in the future!

@tobiasw Thank you for your for your feedback !

As you may have guessed, I just had time to finish the first cutscene and the first level. On the second level with the footsteps I wanted to represent his erased memory. But I just had time to make the engine for the particles.

Thanks again for the encouragement, I will do my best for future game jam

Congrats on your first jam! It was short, but a story was told! I am impressed that you were able to tell a full story with little content.

Really like the graphics! The way in which you interpreted the theme is really unique too! The narrative was also very good, and the controls were very intuitive! This is a really good first jam game!

Love the simplistic art and music. Its very short and the gameplay is a little plain, but it tells a nice story. It would be really cool if you wanted to expand the game because I think there is potential in it. Just a note I had to restart due to me edging through the bush next to the lake which sends you out of bounds and forces you to restart, but it wasn't too big of a problem.

Congratulations on your first game! The truth, it didn't cost me anything to understand the concept, keep it up and I wait for your next game :D

Congrats on finishing your first game! It's a shame you had to cut it short, I would have liked to play more :)

I really liked the graphics and the music, it gives a nostalgic mood that fits well the story :)
(maybe you should opt out of the humor category, because this game is not really a source of lulz ^^ )

Not sure I understood everything about the story (especially the second part), but as said, you had to cut short the game. Maybe a post-jam version could be nice?

It's very short but that's what have been already said. What I would definitely add is some text (in-game) narrating what is happening around. You did a good job with the visuals - enough detail for 8x8 sprites. I also like that there's music although it is too repetitive (don't know how long tracks Pico8 allows).

I love the art style, the contrast in colors is just perfectly calibrated, and the pixel art is simple, but well constructed enough to paint a clear picture of what the world looks like. I really wish this was a bit longer, as I was playing it I was really excited to be playing it, and that sudden ending was a bit of a let down. But time is always a constraint, so I totally get why it ends like that.

Also, I really liked the interpretation of the theme, so kudos for your first game and game jam! I hope to see you around here for future events!

I had a bug or something that turned my screen black. From my experience I think the game would be a bit better if there would be a different animation for the for directions the player can move to. Although I don't know if that would form another problem in the game or if you already know that but left it due to time constraints. I will say that I really liked the music and I would've loved to play the game a bit longer ;)

The game is very short but I like what has been made here. The soundtrack is nice, the graphics are amazing. The narrative in this short space of time is well crafted too - so much talent on display here!

Nice one, and original use of the theme ! Love the general atmosphere, thanks to the music that is pretty nice. I also like the fact that you did it with PICO-8 because it means that you had to develop a lot of things by yourself and I like this retro feeling.

For the critisim : since the game is pretty intriguing I whish it was a longer

I really liked your interpretation of the theme, although I was sad that it was so short ! Good work anyway!

very sensitive use of the theme, i love it when game makers tell a story through gameplay instead of words. congrats on your first finished game!

Short and sweet. Loved the art style - good execution and cohesive. Tone of the music was a nice contrast to the colors. Impressive first compo! Thanks for sharing!
