A Pug In Time is a puzzle game in which you have to solve puzzles in order for your pug to win its precious bone.

We had some fun to make this between friends, we hope you will enjoy it. Peace and woof :dog:

This game was made for the Ludum Dare 47, with the theme : Stuck in a loop.

Basic rules :

You have to reach the bowl or pick up the bones in the level to complete it.

The levels are cyclic, if you move trough the fog you will be teleported at the opposite of the level. You lose if you (or one of your ghost) stop on the same block as another ghost.

WASD for movement.

Cute pugs floating around! The pugs really caught my attention and I think the model was cute and a bit funny! I like the gameplay mechanics and it really forced me to think. I'm not sure if I experienced some bugs with placing ghosts, though. Maybe I just didn't understand how they work. The music was also really fitting with the environment and really set the mood right.

I absolutely LOVED the artstyle, but it took me a while to figure out how to properly use the ghost once you get to place them with Q. Also the game gets a big confusing with some of the bigger levels (mainly because of the camera angle).
It's still a really cute game and I loved playing it

The video game is very careful, and the puzzles are well developed and interesting to play. As a contribution I think it would be great if the pug has a shock animation when it wants to move to a collision direction, it can also help a small sound that indicates to the player that he cannot move in that direction. <3

Looks amazing. Seemed like it would be a very fun game but there are a couple of player controller bugs that make it difficult to play. If you get stuck in an immovable position, it would be nice to have a "retry?" button.

Hi everyone ! Thanks for playing our game ! We are super happy with all your feedbacks and I'd like to answer to some of them.

@bocchi-dev Yeah we've found some bugs with the ghost and the rewind features and I'm starting to search how to fix them !

@pink-shard-games We don't really focus on the camera, it's true and it can hit the gamefeel pretty bad. But we thought that the result we had was enougth for this jam. We also started to think how we could increase the game readability with some effects (for example, an invocation animation/effect to show where the player start) and some of our effects doesn't match correctly with what will happen (for example, the ghost path is one case too long and it's really really confusing).

@condesluck Absolutely ! We've planned to make that shocked animation but we had some issues with the animations and we've finally decided to kill the feature. But we had the idea yeah ! I think I can had some small feedbacks to help understanding that you can't go backward, it's almost impossible to know right now that you can't do that.

@jamesor It's true that we doesn't have any stuck verification ! I think it could be added easily. For the moment, if you are stuck, you can pause the game (with escape, classical) and click the retry button.

I love your game :heart_eyes: the art is realy cute/funny and the sound add someting to it. I just had a problem, I get stuck on a level because I forgotto create a ghost and I get stuck and couldn't restart the level..

Nice entry ! The puzzle mechanics are well introduced and well expanded upon. The take on the theme is interesting, and I found myself doing many more levels than I expected to. Congrats !

Strengths :
- Pugs ! In time ! Easy to control !
- Cool visuals and freakin awesome soundtrack
- Fun puzzle design

Possible improvements :
- Readability sometimes takes a hit in larger levels. I also found myself wanting to move the camera at some point, but all of that has already been mentioned by @pink-shard-games.

I love pugs! And this game! The graphics were really well polished; lots of cool vfx, e.g. the shaders for the ghosts (how?). And I'm impressed that given the complex mechanics, you were able to implement them within a short period of time. Really cool.

Hey, I like the ideas you have there and the game looked very cute and spooky! I wish there were more clear visual indications of things happening, as sometimes I got confused - the walking over the edge mechanic for example would benefit from some sort of animation, I think. Had trouble with understanding how the ghosts work, so the retry button kind of helped - that sound effect though, aa that`s hot!
