> keep typing! by Yolziii

This is a typing quest, you have to read more than type, analyze and figure out what is going on. Actually, this game is more about cogitations than about typing :) In the end, you have to make a decision. There are two ends of the game.

For now, it is more like just an idea, but I'm going to keep working on this project.

I'm not native English speaker, sorry guys :) Feel free to leave any comments, I will try to fix all mistakes.

There are a lot of things that I wanted to do but did not have time. First of all - a more convenient command line and chat line, with the selection and movement of the cursor. I’m also going to work on a graphical user interface - drag and drop windows, minimize, close and open, I will add a scrollbar to it. And of course, I'm going to fix all the bugs, develop the story and add more mechanics, commands, programs, and content.!

I think this is a very great start to your project! I didnt get too far into the game but I think you can make the chat bigger. Keep up the great work!

I liked it a lot, especially the chat bot. I was thinking this game was going to be about typing non-stop really fast like a typeracer, but this adventure game is good too! :)

Interesting concept! Don't see many terminal-based games here. I found that some of the graphics get shifted around at different browser zoom levels.

Unexpectedly pleasant sensations from a text game. I've never been a fan of this genre, but here's the depth! And also great potential. You can change the world while sitting at home and working in the console!

I feel like there's so much potential here. The command prompt acts exactly like I expect it to but there are a few major problems with the game that stop me from progressing.

The webpage scrolls when you press space as someone else has said previously so I had to keep scrolling back up to the game. Also, the cd ../ command didn't seem to work for me so I was never able to get into the parent file so I couldn't get into users. I feel like this game may be amazing but all I was able to do was read the scientist's log files.

Wish it wasn't as frustrating but I love the idea.

Thank you for your feedback, @sir-magic! May you say what browser are you using and what OS? In all browsers available on my system I can reproduce this bug only if I didn't focus on the game screen yet, and then the screen isn't scrolling.

cd command works inside users directory only or if you will login as root user but with current content this command is useless. I think I will hide it for guest user for now to prevent this kind of misunderstandings and will back it after voting will finish with additional content to use the potential of this command )

This was pretty interesting. Unfortunately, the game crashed after I typed "login root" or "login guest," but after a couple of restarts I made it to the end. Well done!

@yolziii ah that may be it then, I was logged in as the guest user. It's probably not a bug then but in case it was, it was Windows 10 in Firefox. I assumed I had to get to the root folder before I could get to the root user, so maybe it was my misunderstanding.

I'm also running into the same issues that @sir-magic saw - Whenever I hit space, the page would scroll down, using Firefox. I also couldn't cd into the lab20 folder after logging in - I logged in, then the page jumped down, and I saw that there was a prompt to cd into lab20, but it was telling me access denied still. I'm unsure if this was intentional or not, but the scrolling made it too difficult to dig further.

Firefox also opened a quick find prompt whenever I typed '/', so I'm guessing the scrolling is happening because keystrokes are being read both by the game, and by Firefox - When you hit the spacebar while not in a text field, that's normally a hotkey which scrolls the page down, and the '/' key apparently opens quick find.

If the scrolling issue can be fixed, I'm happy to take another look at the game and leave a rating! I was having fun figuring out how to progress despite the issues - It's a really cool concept, and I want to see where everything leads! :)

Thank you a lot @koolruz! I am finally realized what was going on with the space-key issue on Firefox and fixed it. Sorry for your broken experience! You may try it again )

Awesome, I just beat both endings! Thanks for patching the space-key bug :)

This was a fun experience! It drew me in really quickly - Once I found the first hidden password, I immediately wanted to keep digging.

First of all, very cool concept. Reminds me of games like Simulacra and Emily is Away. Loved the terminal and ascii art. Story wise I thought it was quite weak - it was not clear to me what the objective was (I don't want to spoil the ending by mentioning it here, but if that was the intention it came as a surprise). I liked the idea of searching the files for clues, but it was too easy in the end. I think there is tremendous scope to explore this further and flesh out details of the background and story. Great job otherwise! Technically, I'm quite impressed.

I love hacker games. This was a good start to a game, seemed a bit short, I liked how you hid the passwords.

Spoilers follow:

>! Hmm, after logging into root and typing `poison` is there any more to the game? I couldn't find anything.
