Labyrinth Looper by RegularSalamander

made by RegularSalamander for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

You're a frog? Yes. 1.png Hop around an infinite labyrinth on a single screen, the walls shifting where you can't see. But don't go too fast or you'll run into a ghost. 2.png Items, like keys, shields, and torches, will help you get around the labyrinth, but the main point is collecting coins - and surviving. 4.png

This is pretty well done!
The ever-changing maze and the limited vision is pretty cool.

The game seems pretty bland after a while, but the pickup of the sudden light-source made me put in an extra bunch of minutes.

The score counter is really nice :D

Amazing concept and brilliant execution! The strategy of item picking is very nice and the main mechanic really got into me. It was me the one "stuck in a loop" playing.

You've got my 5/5, congrats for such an amazing game :D

"An infinitely large dungeon that takes up only one screen." What an amazing idea, and the execution definitely does it justice. This is honestly the kind of idea I could see becoming a fully fledged game.

The art is nice as well. The light effect is very pleasing to look at and I like the coin counter, it reminds me of the satchel in *Kingdom: New Lands*.

I like the way ghosts and keys interact: Since you need a key to exit the current corner of the labyrinth (maybe a coincidence?), only carrying a shield isn't a viable strategy. This forces you to engage with the ghosts. Although leading them away can get a little tedious, the subsequent chase and frantic search for a new shield is a welcome change of pace. I didn't really find a use for the torch, however.

I got a pretty sizeable stash on my last attempt :)

All in all, great take on this theme!

That's insane! I never thought that many coins was possible, it's at least 4 times my own high score. I can't imagine what the game was like with that many ghosts.

Cool game! Loved the music :)
At first I didn't notice that the walls were shifting, only after my first run. Got me quite confused there :D

Cute game. The lighting mechanic looked cool and was fun. The graphics are simple but polished and do their job well. I liked the risk-reward of only being able to hold one item at a time, so you have to drop your shield to unlock doors, etc. Could've used a few sound effects.

Good work overall.

Very cute! Didn't notice any bugs, music is cool and gameplay is pretty solid. A display of your score when you die would be nice imo, and a personal high score system.

Here's the coins I was able to collect before dying :)

Really cool visuals, I found the torch to be the more useful than the shield but I liked that you had to drop the more useful items to pick up the key for progression. The dungeon generation system is really interesting also, would love to see the mechanics behind that!
