Tickets, Please! by Tvorojok

made by Tvorojok for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Made in 72 hours for the Ludum Dare 47 Game Jam Theme: Stuck In A loop.

When I was young, I used to watch the stars all night long. Their beautiful light beckoned me every single night. My dreams have been connected with space since I remember.

Up to the old age, I haven't lost my hope to see other worlds inhabited by unique creatures. And one dark night in the sky I saw.. ..A train It stopped close to me.

I quickly entered the carriage through the opened doors and saw many different creatures! Since that, a lot of time has passed. I have visited lots of worlds. But only here, in train, I feel happy. I'm stuck in here like in a loop and I'm so glad.

This train is all my life!

20+ Characters, 9 Stations, 6 Different Backgrounds and 999999 possible outcomes of the ticket number :)

The art style is nice but is far to confusing to play.

Hey !

Had some trouble loading the html5 version for some reason so I downloaded the win file.

Very nice job on your entry !

The art looks great and the interactions with objects on click is very pleasant (the sound design for the clicks and other feedback sounds were well chosen).

As for the game mechanics, I did feel like I had to do some homework that I did not really want to do, I'm guessing especially the giving change back part, however it fits well with the "simulation" side that is very well defined from the start.

I will get back to it after I had more than 3 hours sleep (although it was worth it as I could finish my project too !), maybe then I'll be able to rack my brain and dust off the old arithmetic !

Cheers and enjoy some well deserved rest :)

Great art/music, gameplay seems polished enough

The animations / layers management still a bit rough tough

I'm happy that the customers compliments me on my new glasses. But they should gove me others greetings too, i'm not defined only by my glasses :(

Great game overall

Wow, I admire the ~~mons~~passenger design you went with! And there's 20 of those? Kudos, I'm a huge fan! The background mapart is beautiful to look at as well, and the music is eerily fitting, with the synth-choir(?) really underlining what kind of train this is! :D Gorgeous all around!

I experienced some glitches in the html5 version. At one point for example, the game just froze (the music still went on), and at another point when clicking a few heads to check whether I have to "remind" people to get off the train, I got stuck in the ticket menu and couldn't get back out.

Nonetheless, great fan of what you did! Thank you so much for delivering this gem! :)

I love the art style, and the mechanic seems interesting. But when I tried counting the change and clicking the "here's your ticket" button, nothing happens. (I'm playing the HTML version.) Is there a step I'm missing?

Hi @kevinworkman,
Yes, after you counted the change, you should press 'Print ticket' button (step 8 in tutorial)

Wow, the graphics / painted visual art style for this is fantastic. It feels very surreal and artistic, very well done on that front! Very unique entry overall

Cool idea. The art is really unique and gives a nice mood to the game. The gameplay itself was a bit confusing at the start tho.

I love the art style! Music fits well, and mechanic is original. The game looks very polished, but I think there is a bug if I have opened a chat with some passenger while he is going out of the train (I can't exit the screen). Great entry anyway, congrats!

Thank you for giving it a try thou!

This was very interesting! trying to find out where everyone had to go was very fun. I did encounter a small bug after a couple stops that a passenger left and I couldnt exit the UI anymore. Well done for the jam!

Really cool graphics. I love the way this game looks. Unfortunately there was a lot of steps for me and I got a bit confused with what I needed to do and if I was doing it right.

I really want to play this but I can't seem to play the webGL version for some reason (I have a Mac so can't play the Windows)? I run the game, press the play button, then nothing happens. The graphics in the screenshots look very intriguing.

Good job on doing all that nice looking art for a jam!

Only the Play button on the explanation screen is not very easily visible, with all that text on the screen, I almost closed the game cause I didn't know how to progress.

You really put time and effort on drawing all that, taking the bar and standard higher, good job

I came here because I was really intrigued by the graphics! It's really original but maybe too "dense", like I felt a bit lost searching for the different sections, even though there's a small introduction to explain that. Maybe UI could be improved on that side. Music was also a bit distracting at the beginning!

But overall, it's a really nice entry and I really appreciate the work put into it, keep doing cool stuff :)

I was stuck because the passenger I was giving the ticket was gone, and I didn't find how to cancel the ticket. Appart that, nice graphics and mood, maybe the gameplay is a little confusing but, hey, that's a LD. Good job!

I also could not get the HTML5 version to load, sadly. I was really looking forward to sneaking in a last minute rating on this, because the screenshots look very impressive. Oh well, good luck with the ratings, and maybe look into the web version issues in a post-jam version.
