It was really just a game about collecting sticks.

Can't seem to interact with stuff, or maybe I'm trying to interact with stuff that can't be interacted with. Maybe add some tutorial/introduction ?

I was sad that hiding in bush did nothing :'(

Many sticks were collected.

It feels strange that the character is always walking down by itself. This makes the movement feel heavy.

Really liked the atmosphere of the game, music was really well done. Felt a little slow to play, took a bit to long for things to get interesting, but other than that thought it was a really cool game!

I loved the deer running away.

This was a really nice ... game? I really liked it, but it felt more like some exploratory journey through this world you created! I was really surprised when I found the deer, and felt an odd joy when they hurried away from me  :deer:

I found the sound to be a bit off, i think some more "fireplacey" guitar or harmonica sound might have suited your world better.
A cool sound effect could've been a loop of burning logs, and the closer you'd be to the fire, the louder it could be :)

Something to think about for your next entry is some sort of 2.5D collision detection. Right now, you can't walk "behind" a tree, the tree as a whole sprite collides with the avatar as a whole sprite.

But nonetheless a cool and well done entry, congratulations! :sparkles:

Nice collecting sticks game :D

Here are my feedback:

_Positive points
- Cool graphic and post process
- The animation of the deer is really neat
- The compass system is quite nice

_Negative points
- The walk animation feels strange

Overall: gg for your work!

Really likes this game, the look of it is great, atmosphere added a whole loada suspense too!

One thing I think would really improve the experience: since it's not directly top down, some hitbox adjustments would help make the world traversable (top of the player can move through tree hitboxes, etc to make it look like you move in front)

As advertised :) I can't believe how I am playing this longer than I would have expected. Has that grinding quality that hooks some I guess like a mobile game. One thing just to make the objective clearer instead of trying to pick up stuff that can't be would be at game start have one piece that you could pick up within clear view. It would teach the player and be obvious after.... Felt like I was playing an Atari 2600 game (good thing)

I didn't really like it. I didnt feel rewarded for collecting the sticks and there wasn't anything else to do. Hiding in the bush was cool, but ultimately pointless. The music loop was a bit too short wherein it started driving me crazy. Very heavy on the unity-effects as well, not tasteful. The collision boxes for all the objects didn't really match either.

This game got a lot more interesting after the first level!

The things I liked:

- Graphics & shader/post-processing
- The mood after the first level

Suggestions:
- Some form of feedback for a sprint. How long can the player sprint?
- While foreshadowing things to come, the music felt too simple.

Otherwise great and unique entry!

Jesus Christ, you almost gave me a heart attack  Despite being super minimalistic with its graphics and audio, this game is very spooky and atmospheric. You’ve done a very good job on that part! Making character hitbox a little bit smaller would make the game feel even better, but besides that, I really enjoyed this game.

I liked the graphics, the weird shader, and the animals running around.
The atmosphere is definitely interesting. Just run around, explore, and nourish your fire.
The movement was too slow though. And when running, you fall before the bar stamina bar gets to the end, so it's a bit tricky.
GG overall.

The game is cool but I can't play it. It's to scary for me. But well done.

With that many trees, I'd have thought there would have been more sticks lying around... :P

The atmosphere is really well done, I was scaring myself before I even had anything scary happen, I ran out of sprint and tripped and that made me jump IRL lol, I beat it my first time without ever seeing anything. Second run I challenged myself to minimal bushes, only saw the guy for like half a second on the far side of my screen and it kinda made me laugh tbh. Third time I played, I was cocky, figured this sped up music meant nothing, then pretty much shat my pants after 2 sticks when homie ran at me. To be fair, it WAS a cheesy jumpscare ;)

Collected some sticks.

Pretty weird..."difficulty" curve, if you could call it that. The 1st loop felt just plain tedious, the 2nd loop went a bit faster since I knew where things were, and then the 3rd loop just seems...impossible? To be fair I didn't try for terribly long, but after collecting 3 sticks and then losing all of my progress via what seems to just be more or less random chance (?) I decided to quit while I was ahead...

Our entry also may or may not be definitely a horror game, if you'd like to check it out.

11/10 would collect more sticks! The first time I ran out of stamina and there was actually a "fall down, then slowly get back up" animation, I was like "Yep, they nailed it" Great job!

This is awesome! The third level was a bit too difficult for me to continue in a reasonable amount of time (I have a few more games I need to rate,) so I can't comment on anything past that. The first level was a little tedious, as others have pointed out, but I did enjoy getting to know the locations of the sticks, as well as finding the deer. I like the aspect of hiding from the shadow guy, the tension built up by the music, and the stress of trying to get to a bush to hide. The character's walking animation looked a little more like dancing, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the game. I'd recommend making it clearer which level you're on, maybe have a little "stage 1" at the top of the screen or something - I know that you are supposed to be stuck in a loop, but it'd be nice to know how many instances of the loop you've completed. Epic game overall, though, I enjoyed it
