Asclepio by Rapwnzel

made by Rapwnzel for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Asclepio is a physics based mix of simulation and clicker game.

Your main goal is to defend your body as long as possible. Move blood cells to the injured locations to defeat intruders and heal the wounds. You get damaged when enemies enter the heart.

Controls are WASD and Mouse. Touchpad is possible, but it is way harder to play without a mouse.

Fun facts: - you can find a tutorial in the game - the rhythm of your heart and blood flow are increasing when you get damaged - you can theoretically scroll the map to infinity, have fun! - we are a team of two students and made all assets during the 72h period

I love the idea.
The camera might be a little too zoomed in. Even after finding an injury, it takes too long to then find the nearest junction point that blood can go down to get there, then having to either wait at the junction to hope some blood comes by or to spend even more time scrolling around trying to find other places to send blood to the place where you need to direct the blood towards. It felt a little bit limited by how few places there are where you can actually alter the blood's movement. Felt like not enough blood, the amount of blood I could corral into a enemy wasn't enough to kill it.

Liked the graphics. I would have liked a zoom in/zoom out feature. Yet it was fun to play overall. I found myself overwhelmed by the number of bacteria and tried to kill all of them but my man died. Well done guys!

Thank you @rhiz , thank you for the feedback!
We don't want to zoom out the camera anymore since that would make the game easier and the enemies harder to click on.
But we implemented a minimap where you can click on, so you can just jump greater distances with your camera :)

game should tip that its easier to put the cells on the right way rather than dragigng them all around the body to the wound, game is rly original!

This is a really great concept. I really appreciated that you had instructions and a tutorial in the game, it helped to get into it! Right now it's a bit tedious to scan the body constantly looking for viruses or bacteria. I think something that would help with this would be an indicator on the minimap where viruses and bacteria are. I know that'd be difficult since they're so tiny relative to the map, but maybe just like an initial light or something when they enter the body, so you know a general idea of where to look instead of having to scan the fairly large map so much. Also, it was pretty funny scanning the body and coming upon a knife sticking out of an artery:) Really impressive work!

Great concept but didn't really realized can i heal wounds or not. I don't think that zoom is really needed but it can be cool if you add some context to the human - how did he gets wounds or something about it

I like it. The gameplay is relaxing but interesting. Good take on the theme. On my screen (1920x1200) the minimap appears to be cut in half by the edge of the screen.

Very nice concept and well executed! I really liked the semi-indirect control which was very smooth. At first I missed that you could kill bacteria by clicking on them but that's mainly because i skimmed the text.

It was a bit overwhelming taking care of the whole body and figuring out where to go - perhaps more blood and more viruses would make everything feel a bit more tangible and like you had a clearer goal at all times?

The music was fitting and really added to the atomsphere.

That guy has some serious problems with knives. I mean he was stabbed like 100 times in body parts including the head and yet only catched a few viruses...

The concept is cool and fits the theme pretty well but the gameplay is very slow and doesn't get faster (i think). An upgrade system where you spend points you earn by killing viruses and bacteria on stuff like new and stronger cell types would be cool - but i totally get that this would have been too much time investment for only 72 hours.

As it is it's a nice relaxing entry even though i found it just a bit too slow.

Nice little game

Maybe a little bit too much click needed to kill viruses, i ended up spaming click and had to stop because of that

@willoxs thank you very much! The game get's harder the longer you play (less blood cells and more viruses/bacteria and wounds) over 10 minutes (score of 600+). If you can reach more than 900 then you're better than we are :D
