The art is the best aspect of this game, and it shows the time and care put into it. The audio however was a bit dull and felt weak during the gameplay. There was also a lack of direction, as It was only after I played for a while before I realised I needed to throw my items down into the abyss. This normally comes from developer bias, and it always helps to watch players test it before you upload something so you can see how they react with any given build.
This was however a very unique take on the theme, and I applaud such creativity!
What could be improved is that using items could feel more snappy.
Very solid entry cheers!
for me the controls were a bit of gymnastic since there is a lot of actions to do in the game to farm, but it went alright :)
tho surprising mood haha, I end up killing myself by curiosity, but when I tried for real and saw that it's what I do anyway if the god bar is empty ; I found it really fun
i wonder if there is an end ?
The watering indicator is too subtle, it needs to be explicitly mentioned in the guide or made more obvious. Also sometimes it appears you are watering due to the indicator beating faster but it just keeps going. Not sur eif I'm impatient or it's slightly off.
It'd also be good to add to the controls screen that you need to throw the food off the edge.
I really liked the effect when chaos meter filled.
I would like to have a hint during a game - how flowers/fruits affects Ctulhu's state (I read that in "controls" menu, but forgot in few moments).
Really enjoyed it, the art was great and it was cool watching my plants grow. I wish there was a bit more going on in the game world? I mainly just stood over my plants with the watering can. I maxed out the energy bar at the end and was unsure of what the ending was supposed to be. Overall it was fun and I would like to see more!
Also added a html version to my game if you want to have a go now
I love how you twisted gardening with the monsters, I think there is a very good rhythm overall!
Sometimes my seeds ended up being hidden by other objects like trees and it took me a while to learn how to water the plants correctly (the icon feedback is a bit subtle I think).
I think having a run button or more eyecandy on the land would do wonders for the game. Perhaps cute monsters :3
It's nice to see the apples working so hard to grow a crop.
I understand if you want the player to explore abit, because when they figure something out, it gives that "ahah!" moment, its exactly what ive done with my game lol! But i feel like you should let people know where to put the food, i was searching around the whole map for a monster to feed!
Other than that, the game is fun and the art is really cute and easy on the eyes with the colours used. I also spend the first minute of the game scolling my mouse on and off the "back" button in the options menu because it seemed to go really well with the music, like i was adding a tune of my own.
Great solo achievement!
@nick-biglin the main gameplay loop ended up being quite meditative especially with the no music. I did the music at like 4am at the last minute so I couldn't do much but I had so many ideas for it lol glad u enjoyed!
Had the carrot get stuck on the ledge right as I ran out of hunger.
I did end up making the ultimate sacrifice in the end :sob:
Great job!
Also thank you for the comment on my game, I really appreciate it!
As for the gameplay itself, I wish there was a better indication of your target. When holding a shovel it was difficult to dig new holes. I guess because I was too close to the existing ones, but some in-game indication would be nice. I'd also add some highlight to the currently targeted item, right now if there are two or more items close to each other I press E and pick up one of them seemingly at random. The watering indicator was a great idea, but it was a little bit too subtle (I've noticed it after two or three playthroughs).
Anyhow, I had fun playing your game. Good job! :)
The art style and the theme together are great.
It took me awhile to figure out what to do, but that feels like it was maybe intentional.
Great art/animation/sound.
Is there a win condition? It certainly works with the setting if not, but I am curious if there is something I did not find.
