Firepower by POBIX
My first game!
Made for the Ludum Dare 46 jam with the theme of Keep it alive.
The game is a top-down wave shooter where you have to keep your gun alive by making sure it doesn't run out of power.
Made using the Godot engine.
Art and sound effects from Kenney Game Assets 2, music from The Game Creator's Pack by Jonathan So.
*MacOS version untested
Version 1.1 changelog:
Lowered player speed due to popular demand
Fixed bug that made the UI show your health decreasing when a new wave starts
Fixed fullscreen UI in the credits and the shop
The Ludum Dare rules aren't clear on whether it's allowed to balance your game in an update, so I uploaded the new version as a seperate build. Old build available as v1.0 in the itch page.

The character moves so fast there's little time to process everything that you see, making it so easy to get hit by enemy projectiles

You move way to fast when getting speed upgrades

The visuals could have been better and the player moves really fast, but the game is fun

The player is really fast, but other than that it is a nice game

The player was fast but my biggest issue was actually how small the screen was I kept clicking out of the screen. The gameplay was fun the constant just shooting for rewards though for expensive the upgrades where I wish you got more money for a kill. I see how it related to the theme and I thought that you used this theme in a more creative way than I have seen before.

@piggles Thanks for your feedback! You can resize the window or enter fullscreen if you find it too small.

Fun game but some enemies spawn outside the map and can't be killed.

Nice game and great entry. The sounds work really well with the game. The mechanics are good. One thing; there is something going one when you multifire and hit where it is lagging heavily (like stopping) - maybe your game loop could use some tweeking :)! Keep up the good work.

This was a lot of fun! I quite liked the challenge of having to dodge all the enemies attacks, very bullet hell-like. And having the shop was pretty cool. Would be fun if there was some more enemy variety, but overall a fun arcade game

Didnt get that you have limited ammo at first and got stuck. But after i figured everything out i had some decent fun! Player is a little bit fast but that is probably a requirement since the dodging is kinda hard too. Good entry!

I must say, despite the simplicity, I found it incredibly fun to move around at incredible speed shooting projectiles in semi-random directions! Pity an enemy spawned outside the area :( Anyways great job!

tried on Mac, but it says it cannot be launched. Is it 64bit?

@datagreed The engine doesn't give me a 64 bit option on Mac, so I really don't know. Do you have a full error?

Nice game, especially great if it is your first! I like the concept and the top down graphics, can be slightly frantic when you get the big waves and extreme speeds, but thats part of the fun! Sometimes I had a bug where an enemy spawned outside the border, so I had to give up and start again, because I couldn't hit him...

@pobix no, just the system window saying that the app could not be launched - that usually happens with apps packaged for old versions of macOS, not details, sorry :(

 so far so good, love the idea of this game but i think you need to do something about the battery, for me it decreasing to fast and it didn't refill on the wave beginning. sure you can find item to refill it, but it takes time to exploring the map for just killing one enemy

I found it hard to find enemies in the area, but other than that this is a good implementation and good graphics.

Hey, congrats with your game! It's a really solid entry, and I love the addition of the upgrades, it's awesome to end up stronger after each run. The speed felt pretty ridiculous, and there was a point that I started avoiding speed, just cos it was *too fast*. It was also annoying how frequently runs were killed by enemies somehow getting out of bounds. But I like how the difficulty ramps up, you've done an excellent job with the gameplay. The graphics aren't the best, but I really like the simplicity of it all, otherwise it would be nauseating to be moving around at such crazy speeds. It had great clarity, and that's something to be proud of. Congrats!
