Inventing time travel was easy... The hard part is surviving the paradoxes! Escape - but don't let your past spot you!

A sort-of spooky puzzle game where you have explore, plan, finally execute the perfect run to get your ray gun, and finish this!

This is my first game jam, though I have been making games for years. It is, of course, rough around the edges, and ugly to look at, but he is my ugly son, and I am still proud of him.

"You wake up on the floor of your laboratory. Lab coat burnt, eyebrows missing but.. What this? Your time machine is finished? And it's on?! Oh no! In only a few moments I will be coming out of that chamber - and I didn't see myself so that means. I have to get out of here! I know what i have to do - unlock all of the security puzzles in my lab to get my ray gun - then end this nightmare by killing all my past selves!"

I want to thank Digital Mantis's 'Yon paradox' - my inspiration. Also thanks to Slef for the name, and by S.O. for being the best!

Unfortunately, due to a current bug in Unity (2020.1.0-2020.1.7), this could not be uploaded as a web app - which means I have done my best to provide Windows, Mac and Linux, builds, so I hope they work for yall.

Thanks!

Couldn't get it to run on Mac, not sure if the problem is on my side or not?

A fun concept of a game and I really enjoyed the stealth elements. The grabbing and placing of items was the most difficult part but the stealth and lighting was done fantastically! I'd love to see this explored further if you have more time in the future. :)

That got really stressful really fast. At first I was confused, and thought it was a pretty chill puzzle game. When I started to be hunted down by my own phantoms though, shit got serious. I tried a couple of times, but wasn't able to win. When you go to an area further into the lab that you're not familiar with, you'll probably want to look around to familiarize yourself with the layout, but doing this makes it 10x harder when the next phantom spawns. It's definitely an interesting challenge.

Overall, nice submission! It's a unique concept and good execution.

10/10 video, hilarious.

Couldn't get myself to finish the game myself, as I don't really enjoy restricted vision and repeating the whole game over and over again.

Also, I don't like forced full-screen.

I want to second it not working on Mac. I'm on macOS Catalina, version 10.15.6. My guess is that this is a 32-bit app, but Catalina only runs 64-bit apps.

Really interesting concept that forced me to (try to) think long-term and in layers. I enjoyed the fact that it doesn't give a ton of instructions, which gave it a nice air of mystery. It was a little too tricky/long/difficult for me to complete, but definitely something memorable! The repetition of action (with accumulated knowledge) captured the theme really well, but eventually became a little repetitive after a bunch of tries.

The art and music also worked well with the vision to give a coherent vibe to the whole thing, too. The darkness and vision-cone did a great job of highlighting the past-selves and their dangerous vision.

Nice work.

Good concept, and plays well. Will give it another go soon to see if I can beat it :D

A very well executed game. Good music, controls felt adequate. Quite challenging to start, but I'd imagine that as I learn the layouts of the levels, it becomes easier. Only thing I had trouble with was I guess that you can't just put any square in any square hole. Sometimes, I had shapes I didn't know where to put.

It's a very cool concept, I had a lot of fun. I was so close of completing the game, then threw a piece in the wall and couldn't get it back... That was a little frustrating so I didn't give it another try.

The visuals are basic but we quickly understand everything, which is nice. The music really helped setting the mood!

Nice entry!

This game NAILS that intense feeling of danger. Running for cover only to be spotted by my past-self doing a 360 is hilariously stressful. Lots of fun; I haven't seen anything like it. The dynamic music kept me invested as well.

The limited vision worked really well, but with most of the screen being pitch black, I would've appreciated some more stuff to look at. Something to fill up space like a noise-filter or more light sources would've gone a long way.

All that being said, I had a great time. I was able to finish it (after many embarrassing tries), but I can understand dropping out early. It was definitely tough to learn without any prior knowledge of the map.

I think that this game captures the mood you were going for very well. I love the dynamic lighting, especially as more past versions of myself came out of the chamber. I didn’t read the instructions on the LD page before trying to play, so I was a bit thrown off for a while about what I needed to do other then avoid the red vision cones, it would have been nice to have that explanation in the game itself. Once I got into it though I enjoyed trying to figure out each puzzle room in sequence. One thing that threw me off there was that I could pick up the pieces even after slotting them into their slots, but they didn’t seem to be reusable.

Overall a great entry, well done for your first jam!

Really cool concept, I could have used a little more direction at the start to get an understanding of what to do straight away but I like the minimalist graphics and focus on the lighting to give it more atmosphere!

Very nice game, but really hard. Unfortunately, I got stuck between two forms and couldn't move anymore. The sound is very nice.

This is such a cool concept. I the overall mood and atmosphere was incredibly well done and the concept is incredibly unique. The Music did get a bit annoying for me though and picking up the objects was a bit finnicky at first. Other than that it's great.

Nice concept and execution!

Also, I'm no time traveler, but I don't think killing your past self would be any better than seeing them.

I loved this game, I loved how it is, how the enemies are presented and the audio, I also really like the texts that are displayed when I am caught by an enemy! Very good game!

I liked it! Once I figured out what to do and lost enough times to know where things were without being lost, it got more exciting trying to dodge all my past selves. It was tricky enough that winning felt really good! At one point I got stuck in the place where the three yellow shapes are supposed to be put and had to restart, and sometimes the quotes on the game over screen were too long to fit so they got cut off, but overall it was a really fun game. Great job!

Fun game with excellent mood! Innovative idea and an excellent use of the theme. It was really hard so I wasn't able to beat it yet, but I think I'm going to come back to it later and give it another go. Good job!
