The Sword of Saturn by tinykidtoo

[raw]
made by tinykidtoo for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

While on a nice hike through the forest, you found an ancient sword. The sword contained the soul of the God Saturn, who was trapped in it by his children. Now, Saturn demands blood and revenge against his son Jupiter, and you're going to help him get it.

Controls:

Left mouse to shoot.

Right mouse to stab.

Space to dodge.

Q to heal using blood.

E to toggle time warp (uses blood while active).

R to activate blood rage.

The screen shake and splatters really helped make it satisfying, and I liked the way the world opened up slowly as the barriers disappeared!

Challenging with an interesting mechanic added with the sword and healing/using blood to do things!

Had a blast playing this for a while, feels very fluid and fun to slaughter but also maintain blood.

Really like how juicy combat feels, the screenshake with blood effects really sells the damage. Really like the flow of damaging with the gun and finishing with the sword, adding a risk/reward mechanic in the combat.

This game was super fun! The music was super cool, and I loved the blood effects. Super gorey and epic. The subtle camera shake was just enough, and the comments the Sword of Saturn makes are hilarious.

Pretty solid game, feels good to play. Works quite well overall. I beat Diana and then was done playing, but enjoyed my journey.

Feels a bit like the game at this stage is mostly just watching your health bar and hitting Q when you're about to die, but I'm super impressed with how many different enemy types, levels, and even boss battles you got in. Nice work.

The enemy types really add some needed variety to this game, and the boss fights were fun and challenging. Melee combat is the only thing that could really use some tightening up here though. Overall great job!

This is one of the most stress-removing things I've played, perfect for releasing all that we felt after this stressful weekend making a game for LD. Howeve, I wasn't too sold on the way it matches the theme. Super fun game, nevertheless.

The screenshake is nice but a bit overdone imo, otherwise the game feels good to play

Really nice game. I will continue to feed my thirsty sword with blood.

Maybe I would add some unlockable properties of the sword (or maybe I am noob enough to miss them?)
