Crossbow Quest by DespediteErik

Crossbow Quest
Keep your Mermaid lover alive mid-mutiny in this enthralling shoot-em-up'!
Kia, a mermaid who had fallen in love with the captain of a pirate ship, had been meeting up with him in secret for a while now as he travelled all across the seven seas. His crew wasn't aware of this, however, as they were brewing something more malign behind the scenes - a mutiny to overtake their negligent Captain. And, as they started to go through with their plan, Kia was discovered by the rest of the crew!
Keep the mermaid alive in this top down shoot-em-up throughout three scenarios, each more intense than the last, as you play as the Captain shooting with his trusty crossbow anyone who dares come close to Kia! Can you reign victorious amongst your crew, or will they get her before you do?

INSTRUCTIONS
You play as the Captain, which can shoot arrows from his trusty crossbow by clicking on it with the Left Mouse Button. Aim the reticle anywhere on screen and shoot away!
Defeat the rest of the pirates before they get to Kia. You have three lives, so make them count! Also, you can accidentally shoot her with your weapon as well, so make sure not to aim too close to her.
DISCLAIMER
This game was developed in Construct 3, using their Free Trial for the duration of the Game Jam. Sadly, this trial was cut off 40 minutes early, meaning that the final build could not be exported. The game has been updated after the intended submision date, about 30 minutes lates, so it technically counts as a post-jam update. Sorry about the hassle!

In any case, I liked the graphics and the ridiculous story set up! The gameplay is very simple, clicking around is usually not what keeps me engaged ;), but because of the fast pace of the game, you don;t get bored so easily.
Good job for a jam game! Congrats!
