The player lost in a forest in the middle of the night. You have only one torch. You need to keep the fire alive until morning.

The sprite sorting of the trees bugged me a bit. Easiest way to deal with that is either to get each tree's Z value to equal their Y value via a script (you'll need to move the camera back), or ask Unity to sort by Y instead. The first approach would probably be better for you as you're using some composite sprite for the main character by the look of it and you'd want all the components to have the same Z value (or offset by 0.01 depending on whether they're in front of other components.).
I ended up drawing a map because there were only...trees and occasional sticks for orientation. ...still I found...2. xD it's hard for all the wrong reasons ^^°
I like the atmosphere, the game gets a nice creepy vibe across. Actually finding the branches is really hard however, maybe a bit more different terrain would help so I can actually tell where I've already been!
Does the map loop in this one or is it actually that enormous?
The map is that big, but it will be much smaller in the post-jam version.
