Keep IT Fed by Jammin

[raw]
made by Jammin for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

What is this thing in the gutter? OH, a nice clown! He looks hungry, I gonna find something for him to eat...

In this game, you want to keep your friend Pennywise alive. For that, only one way: find him people to eat. You move your bike using arrows. When you want to go back to It, just press spacebar. Be carefull of the differents traps, they allow the children you caught to escape.

You can find a HTML version on itch.io, but there's some minor sound issue. If you want, there's also downloadable Mac & Windows version, without sound issues.

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring in IT. Solid 5/5 on theme ;)

@curiouslycory :face_palm: I just understood why so many people were using the Pennywise!

Regarding the game! Like the sound, nice graphics and traps.
My only concern is that sometimes controls do not work.

So I can't turn around or can't move. Maybe a bug of some sort?

I like your interpretation of the theme. The mood of the game was sort of weird with the music.

@fammy wasd was working partially. So, I could only go down and right.

Arrows worked fine, but spacebar was not working half the time.

@seagull yes when you decide to return to Penny-wise you can't change your decision! That's why the space bar can be use only in one sense!
Thanks for testing !

@doodlebrisk thx for you feedback, but we decided to put a sweet / fun musique with this creepy game xD, In my opinion, it's creepiest like that xD

Paperboy, but with a darker twist. It was fun, my A key wasn't working in game, but I was able to use the arrow keys. Nice entry.

@doug-graham We choose to use the arrow key because they are universal. But for testing, we had set up zqsd keys, for french keyboards.

Took me a little while to understand what to do but its a charming game (in a creepy way). The graphics and music are well done but gets a little repetitive after a while. Not sure if extra mechanics are introduced later?

Interesting idea. Good sound effects and music.

Controls have room for improvement.

Some guy got hit by a car and exploded into a pool of blood. Made me chuckle.

I like "It" so I was happy to play a game on it ! :D
The concept fits well the theme ! The graphics are nice and the sound design is cool !

However, I found the controls not smooth, it was a bit stiff. And when we turn back, the arrows to speed up get reverse, so it is not intuitive, I think that you should keep always the same keys for speed up and speed down.

Overall, nice work !

The controls were not smooth and the isometric view is not well implemented in the people. However, it was an interesting take on the theme.

Cool! The idea is good, the controls feel a little strange when you are going back, but it's okay. It's always okay to kinnap kids... Like in our game, which is similar to yours! Also using IT in the theme haha. Take a look if you want: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/keeping-it-alive-1

Nice little game ! As others said, the way you used the theme is quite clever and you can be proud of achieving this game is such a short time :)
Also, as french developers we should support ourselves right ? :D
If you like using humor, you should definitely come and try our game too ! You'll have fun, promise :D

Again, well done !

The concept overall was nice, though they gampley initally got me confused. Liked the minimal style of graphic and the sound design was wonderful. Good job on it!

Love the music, there's a lot of it and it's really well done. A bit too happy but I guess the game itself is silly enough :)
