To the Moon and Back... by ETdoFresh

[raw]
made by ETdoFresh for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Experience a unique telling of the Apollo 13 mission. This was an ode for the 50th anniversary. It was tough making a story driven game :). Maybe I'll learn my lesson for next time.

This was cool! It was very unique - it told a real life story, a thing I havn't seen done in any Ludum Dares so far. The graphics seemed a little... 5-year-oldy at parts, but some of the lunar module sketches seemed very accurate. Some spacy music in the background could help quite a lot, I think.

Really cool idea. Captures the mood well.

Moving around to talk to everyone was a bit awkward at times.

Would be interesting to see this system used with more choices, but this was a nice little true story.

Cool interactive story. You bit off quite a lot, with the sheer number of scenes, trying to tell a story.

It'd be interesting if each scene had some little challenge that you had to fulfill in order to make it to the end safely.

Making all the characters interactive doesn't do too much if it's all just filler dialogue.

I got a kick out of the fact that you could slide the rolling chairs in the control room. I think there's a hidden game there: the player stepping into all these momentous times and just trivially messing with things in the background.

Nice work. Liked having multiple perspectives at each point in the story. Very unique, haven't seen any other entries like this. Only issue for me was things getting in my way, could maybe remove collisions on the NPCs and maybe make the chairs slide more easily so that they don't block the player off as much. Great work :)

Hey, a history lesson! Being a space nerd myself I kind of like it :) Could easily add some more on the gameplay side, and som sound would also do wonders. Nice submission!

I really liked the hand-drawn-like art style. Other than that, this game didn't do a lot for me, I feel like it may be better suited to a younger audience. Most of all, I was really missing some audio here, I can very much envision how some music and sound effects would do wonders for this game, especially in accompanying the emotional roller-coaster of the story.

All that said, I really admire that you filmed yourself through the whole process, I can only hope to be able to do that in the future

I find it always nice to play games where a story is told. This was really cool and I enjoyed the way you explained the story. Some music would definitely benefit the gameplay and the suspence. Keep it up :)

This looks so fun! But I have no idea what to do. I can't click on anything in the Embarkment scene, and keyboard keys don't seem to work either. I've tried on both Chrome and Firefox on Mac OS. No luck! :(

Hello! Congrats on your game! I find that the most valuable playtesing feedback is given while playing so I use voice to text while playing and narrate my experience. Still need votes to get a score, would you my playing and scoring my game? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/run-trinki-run Thank you and below is my feedback!

The many looks really nice it has a very cute hand-drawn art style. It reminds me of “to the moon”. I see an ! and that reminds me of World of Warcraft. I figured that if I can walk using w a s and D. And in order to talk I press all the buttons yes space makes us work there a lot of assets that were drawn that is really good and I'm playing as different characters okay we're next an experiences astronaut. Okay I can switch between different areas that's really cool oh the days are progressing and I can see who I can talk to I look at course correction that's nice oh something exploded now I'm going to go module. I'm around the orbits of the Moon actually didn't know the story of the spaceship I wish I knew the names of the astronaut i'm on my way home. The gameplay is not that exciting but the story really is I don't understand the difference between blue lights and red lights final course correction yay you're right there's a lot of content that went into this I don't think the gameplay was necessary noble but it's executed time what it wants to text with properly and I understand how difficult creating this much content so I really appreciate it it wasn't really fun but that. Followed along with the story and I finished the DNC that's really cool and I'm happy I did spend now I know more about astronauts

This is classic example of educational software :) Good job, same platform could be used for other world events as well, like Exxon Valdez crash.

Well That was intriguing, it was no house on the run from the cops (; but I like what you have made.
Simple story telling at it's finest. the pacing and amount of tension building for such a short game is on point. Good work!

Nice work! I love the developer art. Some audio would have been nice but I understand, believe me :). It would have been nice to have the actual astronauts names instead of "1" and "2", Understandable for a lot of the Houston crew, but we defo know those cats' names. Good work!

I really like this game. nice art ( I know you dont seem happy with it yourself but it is quite arty) I had some trouble in the scene when the space ship orbits the earth, I cant pass that, I dont know what Im doing wrong. But nice work!
