WHITE HOT by watdowtal

made by watdowtal for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

WHITE HOT is a game about a weak torch who wants to become scorching. The only way for him to do that is to acquire the Sacred Kindling, hidden away in the incredibly straightforward water temple.

Armed with nothing but his umbrella, he sets off to become WHITE HOT.

Love the art style, and the choice of music is nice. The concept is also pretty fun, but having the umbrella follow the mouse can get a bit frustrating as you move across the screen. Overall good job!

Another great game, the art is great, the audio is good, and the mechanics are very interesting and fun. Although, I have one complaint about the audio, the audio is a little too much when multiple things are firing at once, when the audio stacks, other than that, great job, this is another game that held my attention until the end.

@nanoarch thanks for playing! I had no clue how to get the audio to not stack that way (tried looking it up too) so I just had to leave it it I guess.

This is a really cute and fun game. I loved the blocking mechanic and the overall aesthetic, I wish it supported joypad controls because this game would be amazing for it. Far better than having to move the mouse with the character which can be a bit tricky.

The 2nd and 3rd room (not including the title room) were a very steep difficulty curve. I'd like to get a little more familiar with basic mechanics before having me block projectiles from both directions. Especially the 3rd room which felt like I had to complete it more using a mad dash method rather than any skill based dodging / blocking.

This is one of my favorite games of this jam though. It's such a cute style and has a lot of potential. Great job.

@rk3omega i'm not the best at level design, so yeah the progression is a bit off. thanks for playing it though!

Cute game, and also pretty fun. the jumping sound is a little to loud, which made me turn down volume but then I couldn't hear the music.. Also, where does the theme come back in the game?

Wow I don't have much to criticize here. It was hard for me but very well made. The character's movement was really sleek and I love the look of it all. Great job :)

Great entry! you definitely deserve to have more people looking at this. I wish we could have locked the mouse to the screen and had the rotation relative to the centre or something so I could maintain my position a little easier and not undock as often but I really enjoyed it, v difficult but v enjoyable, great bounce on the animations also.

Nice graphics! I really like the main character and the idea with umbrella. The game is quite challenging, and for me it was very hard to survive even on the first levels :(

This is SO GOD DAMN HARD ahahahah
Your game is really well made, but damn it's, so hard; I would have loved if you had some levels just to get accustomed with the controls and gameplay, and have the difficulty ramp up a bit instead of being immediately soul crushing ahahah
Also I think have mouse controls for the umbrella would work better if the camera was following the character. You have to mouse your mouse to avoid stuff AND follow your character and it's really like having to manage 3 brains at the same time

But again, really well made! Loves the graphics and the general atmosphere. Good job
