You only have a bell at the beginning or is there more that I am missing?\n\nThe graphics are nice and the dashing animation is well done.\n\nThe biggest problem is that I don't know what to do. I read your text eventually but still found it a bit confusing. I eventually was able to gain one bell ring and a 1 appeared on the left. Then the screen started turning red from the bottom up. I am lost as to what all this means. The mechanics are very unclear and that usually hurts gameplay.\n\nThe controls are strange, I figured out at the end that you swipe right to dash, I was just clicking. You should have made that clear in your text.\n\nOverall a good start for a game but it feels unfinished to me. Which is of course totally fine, it's LD and you don't have that much time :-)\n\nKeep up the good work, I am excited to see what you will be able to do in your next LD! :-)","likes":1,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"Danielcmcg","author_uid":"1164860","time":"2020-04-22T19:44:06Z","epoch":1587584646,"modified":1587584988,"text":"Thank you for the feedback, @gonutz. I think you could've made the score go up for every enemy you kill rather than for every ~5, that way you'd get immediate feedback that what you did was good. I don't think there was any indicator for player health, and it wasn't obvious that enemies killed you. The leaves were obviously important, but without reading the description, you couldn't know why they were important or what they did. Otherwise though, once I had some grasp over what was happening, the game was pretty great, I like the method of movement and it was challenging in later levels. From your post mortem, it sounds like its been a hectic experience, and I'd say you've done great to pull this together. With better indicators and\/or tutorialisation, I could see this game going somewhere! ","likes":1,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":["ld46\/198000-97aef50182488eb351100b8c0cf7414a.png"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/danielcmcg.itch.io\/pacmans-dream","text":"Youtube"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"62143","g_author":"1164860","g_event":"LD46","g_eventkey":"77","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"276110","g_title":"Pacman's Dream","g_status":"PVT1","g_place":"2180","g_commentcount":"19","g_site2_node_id":"198000","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"198000","n_urlkey":"276110","n_parent":"176557","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/46\/pacmans-weird-dream","n_slug":"pacmans-weird-dream","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"jam","n_author":"164860","n_created":"1587282704","n_modified":"1587559298","n_version":"622924","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":198000,"parent":176557,"superparent":9,"author":164860,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"jam","published":"2020-04-20T04:22:19Z","created":"2020-04-19T07:51:44Z","modified":"2020-04-22T12:41:38Z","version":622924,"slug":"pacmans-weird-dream","name":"Pacman's Dream","body":"![LD46-Print1.png](\/\/\/raw\/cf3\/82\/z\/2d536.png)\n\nWelcome to one of Pacman's adventure in his own dream land, while kept alive, as a legend it is, in the collective consciousness.\n\nUnfortunate I didn't implement any in game instructions, so I kindly ask you to read the instructions so you can try to minimally explore the Pacman's Dream.\n\n![LD46-KeepItAlive5.gif](\/\/\/raw\/cf3\/82\/z\/320f9.gif)\n\n![LD46-KeepItAlive3.gif](\/\/\/raw\/cf3\/82\/z\/2d086.gif)\n\nThank you all in advance and I would love to know your thoughts and interpretations on it.\n\n\nINSTRUCTIONS:\nThis is a symbolical short game that explores the dreaming world of a digital game kept alive by the collective consciousness.\n\nObjective:\n- To keep alive and gain experience.\n\nRules:\n- Walking through the Red enemies will make you lose health;\n- Collect the Orange leafs to gain health and a dash bubble;\n- Dashing trough the Red enemies to gain experience.\n\nMechanic:\n- Movement is continuous and player changes direction based on the arrows;\n- You can change the arrow direction when it is Yellow by swiping the left mouse button clicked (or one finger) to the desired direction;\n- You can dash by swiinge with right mouse button clicked (or two fingers).\n\nLog:\n- too big for mobile\n- Quality seems pretty bad in the WebGL build.\n- [postmortem] Small adjustments to make the game playable: Reduced the amount of arrows and changed some corridors\n- [postmortem] Fixed not detecting arrow in front when another object was between the player and the arrow\n- [postmortem] Fixed life going over the maximum\n\nComments:\n### spoilers ###\n- It's possible to beat the game\n- Om in the middle turn Red indicating experience\n- Yellow bubles indicate possibility of using dash\n- Pinkish background indicates life\n- There are seven levels\/difficulties\n\nPostmortem:\nHad some great learning in this Jam, not only about managing time, but also managing ideas.
