Doctor Triwing desk

To all Pokemon players : did you lose your save 'cause of the battery failure ? It's actually the case for a lot of us ! And it's (along with Trauma Center) what inspired us to make this demo !

In Doctor Triwing, you have to keep your save alive, by changing the battery while supplying power to the cartridge, almost like you'd do it IRL... Except that you only have a stabilized supply as a power source, and 60 seconds ! You'll have to switch between six tools to do the surgeon :

  • The pan tool : to move and zoom on the map
  • The hand : to turn and move objects, and switch on the power supply
  • The screwdriver : to screw and unscrew the cartridge screw
  • The wire : to link the cartridge to the power supply
  • The solder iron : to unsolder the old battery
  • The cutting pliers : to cut the wires

You'll probably find a (short, and badly drawn) guide about the steps to follow on the desk that'll make you to the Continue screen !

Below are the sources (Game Maker Studio 1.4) of the game, and a Windows executable. You can also play a HTML5 version of the game. The HTML5 version is a bit buggy, prefer the Windows .exe if you can.

We had a lot of fun making this game together and hope you will enjoy playing it ! (oh, and try to do the dumbests things you can on the game and post your score ;) )

Yesss Trauma Center, I always wanted to make a game that was kind of a homage to it, kind of like this...

The instructions are pretty straightforward in this one (I got to the part where I replaced the cover but I didn't succeed from there, maybe I forgot a step? It wasn't clear if I cut the wire properly since the new battery shows up "over" the wire) but I like the kind of tense feel it has. With more time it'd be fun to have more diverse missions where I don't have to just use the tools from top to bottom (though it helps here in the first mission!). Nice work!

This was quite fun! I failed a few times at first (I didn't realize that you had to turn on the power supply), but finally got it. A bit short, but I really liked what's there! Chuckled at the sound effect when opening the cartridge. ;)

Haha very nice :P You should make several levels in the future. Anything from region modding a NES replacing N64-analogues would be both fun and an excellent learning experience for people. Seriousely, this is a good way to teach people this stuff! ^^
