Bermuda Triangle by Humpert764

Welcome to drain 6b in the bermuda triangle. This is your first day as the new manager and our expectations are high.

To ensure a stable supply of cooling water to the reactor core inside the hollow Earth, the location of the drain must be kept secret and this is why we built a base that gets rid of passing ships before they can leak any information about the drain.

This is done by pulling them into the surrounding vortex, which will do the rest. The ships come in waves. If you manage to take care of five waves and nobody escapes, we will consider you worthy for this position and you'll get the rank of Lizard General. If you fail, we'll have to get rid of you.

It is of uttermost importance to jam all signals of passing ships, so you will have to build a Jammer. This should be your first action. Keep it up to date, or you will fail! Then build defenses to pull the ships into the vortex.

We're counting on you.

Longe live the Order! Donald Dumb

EDIT: The Jammer must be upgraded before every new wave (Jammer lvl 2 for wave 2 and so on), make sure to do that, otherwise you will lose. (Didn't seem to be clear from the tutorial)

Nice game!
A few more descriptions would be nice - it required me two restarts to figure out, that magnet do not acrually crush ship, but keeps them in range
Jammer was not easy to understand too, why should it be upgraded even if no ships escaped?
Sometimes upgrade button do not works, if there was not enough money, when the upgrade window was opened
Anyway, consept is great and I liked the game =)
Thank you!

Congrats on the submission :)

I love the tower defense formula. I don't know if you guys made the music, but I think it wasn't the most pleasant, so I'm glad there was a button to turn it off. The sound effects were downright terrifying, but quite fun! At first I was overwhelmed because I couldn't read the buildings descriptions and game instructions while the waves came, but I found out you can pause with space bar later.

I had quite some good fun on the first wave! I seemed all powerfull with my destruction sea station, but after the first wave I just lost, and I still don't understand why :(

It was overall fun to play, and I think it can become a really cool game given the needed polish. Well done!

Was a bit hard to understand what to do first and I also did not understand why I lost.
But the overall idea and the graphics are nice.
Well done

Really nice game! I liked a lot the defense tower system, it is neat to upgrade and/or change type of weapon. It is really satisfying to see the boats being attracted, and gets all of them!

However, I have an issue, I can't start the second wave, indeed, as soon as it starts, I got a game over screen, do you know what the issue is?

Nice idea ! I like the tower defense gameplay combined to bermuda triangle. Need a bit more info during the first run but well done !

@edalbung first: thanks for playing our game! There is a jammer in the middle of the base. It has to be upgraded every wave!

Could it be that it is bugged with the jammer. First try I didn't found a jammer buidling to build and lost. 2nd try I build that jammer upgrade right away yet I still lost after the first wave. Otherwise its a cool concept. Maybe more platforms would be nice so there is more to do.

I find the concept very different from the other games of the jam and it's cool !
But the difference of difficulty between wave 1 and 2 is just huge (I have do 10 trys and no success :/ )

@davision Thx for playing the game and the feedback! Are you sure nobody escaped in the first wave?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Would I get a different message?

@davison Yeah it's similar but says a ship has escaped

Funny premise with satisfying ship magnets. I felt like the music was out of place though, and thought the mood was better without it. The ability to speed up the game was appreciated! Wave 2 was definitely a jump in difficulty!

Definitely funny! Maybe consider reducing the number of ships for the first wave, as I found it to be pretty challenging to install enough defenses with the money given, before a "ship escaped". I tried a few times and couldn't get past it!

Cool towers! They make this work pretty well for being a "defense" game from a single point in the center!

Some sort of marker for ships that are on the way out would help. I understand that it's fairly obvious if you know to watch for it, but it feels anticlimactic/weird to lose to a boat leaving the corner of the screen.

It's hard but I like it! The art style is very nice and I love the concept.

Really nice tower defense game with a variation. I didn't like the sounds (the AAAAA sound from the ships is especially annoying) but otherwise it's really fun. I noticed a bug where I finished wave 1 (text appeared saying wave 2 was starting) but then it said I lost because I did not jam the comms; however, the jammer says it jams all signals from ships wave 2 and below. Anyway, good job! Good luck!

@jose-bonilla Thx for the feedback. Glad you liked it. Did you upgrade the jammer? I think we should have put in a reminder because most people didn't understand they had to upgrade it before the next wave begins.

There's something very satisfying about watching all those ships and planes get chain-sawed down... like a dance of life and death.........

Hey! I really liked the game, I thought it was a really good idea and which is not an ordinary concept :) Just, I think the first wave was a little bit hard, don't know if it was just for me!

It was an interesting game and I liked the idea. I love tower defenses and this one have a good twist.
I have to admit that i'd never figured out to upgrade the jammer if I haven't see it in the comments. Too bad you can't restart at the wave you failed because I failed at wave 5 and I was like "nope, i'm not going that again" lol.

@oscar-iim I agree that we made it too hard, i think we played the first wave so often that we made it a little hard for people just starting.

@harksa That's a great idea! We might implement that if we get back to working on the game (right now Uni has started so this might take some time). We'll probably also add a reminder to upgrade the transmitter before each wave starts.

Thx for playing and the good feedback!

Clicking Start froze the game for ages, then eventually I got this and nothing more happens :(

Very nice little game! The graphics are really well done and pulling all those ships down the abyss felt really satisfying (should I be worried?).

I think the UI could be improved a bit, scrolling through the building parts was a bit tedious.

Apart from that, I enjoyed it though. Fun little distraction, perfect for a jam.

@sven-lowry I'm sorry that the game doesnt work on your PC. I dont know the cause, might be a driver issue or the game it self being too hardware hungry (there wasn't time for optimizing and unreal engine overall isn't that hardware friendly). But it's most likely our competitors, the Freemasonry, who want to prevent you from joining the order!

I had a lot of fun with this game. Sounds nice, looks nice, and the challenge is right on the spot for a gamejam game. Not to mention it's been some time since I came upon a game that was funny like this one. The joke is not in the mechanic, and it's not in the story, and it's not in the graphics or sounds, but at the same time, it is. Great job!

I spent time in wave 1 and 2 but 3 was most I got to. Didn't get to see airplanes. This was fun

Idea was funny and pretty original and fit theme perfectly. Graphics were good, sounds were ok. Sea sound was nice, the screams were good to a point, but the music I turned off pretty shortly.

One of the best and complete entries I've played.

Nice solid entry, good innovative use of the theme!

I got up to wave 3, I enjoyed it. I think the UI needed a bit more love, presentation of the build list could have been better.
