About the game

Pump it is a game where you need to keep the heart pumping making sure the patient will live long enough to arrive at the surgery room. The closest you get, the harder it gets, so keep a sharp eye!

How to play:

The game is simple enough to play: Press the arrow key corresponding to the direction of the heart, if it comes from above, press the up key, from below, the down key and so on. The closest you get from the objective, the faster the hearts come!

About our team:

Our team decided to use GODOT for the first time, to expand the horizons and learn a new engine.

Changelog

1.0 - Game available! 1.0.1 - Fixed issues with audio driver (lag spikes when new sound events occours)

Found this fun and really like the concept! I think if you wanted to develop this further it may be cool to make the beats line up with the audio, could even make songs with heartbeat sounds.

Ahhh so close to saving the patient :D - cool game! I liked the flow state I got in when the beats started going fast - I sort of blurred my eyes and tapped into the matrix to pump that heart. The controls felt fair too, which I'm sure took some hitbox massaging to make happen - but I always felt that when I lost a beat it was my own fault. cheers! :)

This was a really fun take on a classic rhythm game! I like that it started out slow to get used to it before it really ramped up.
Ps. great first time with Godot! This game jam was my first time with it as well, I hope you enjoyed your experience with it!

The heart animation was really good. I liked the frantic nature. It almost felt like I was rushing someone to the ER!

Fun game! Took a couple tries to make it to the end. It'd be cool to have some sort of reward for getting a "perfect" hit, where the hearts line up exactly, like some bonus health back or something. Great job!

Man I wish I was good at these games haha, pretty fun but I think it would be better if the heartbeat synced with the music, and if it didn't freeze for a split second when I first mess up (maybe because it's loading the sound?)

The logo is really cool. The title screen was neat. The game was very simple so it was hard for me to enjoy it. Maybe some different sounds based on what direction you pushed or how accurate you are would help. Good job.

I agree with one of the comments above suggesting to sync it with music - although I know, first hand, it is really hard to sync gameplay with a song's rhythm - however even a simple game can be simple fun - and that is exactly what this is. Ultimately, and I genuinely mean this, great work for a project done in three days.

Remind me StepMania, which was pretty dope concept! The Flow of music and beat kept on getting fast which was competitive. hit box for the game was on point which I general satisfied with.

Really good music and there was a lot of extra things that made it look even better. It would be cool if you made multiple songs and have it be more of a rhythm game by having it sync with the music. Another cool thing would be to add a bonus if the heart is pressed in the middle(like a perfect bonus) and a combo system for that bonus

Simple but enjoyable. The slow intro stopped me wanting to play repeated times. I agree with others that syncing with the music would be an improvement.

The music for this game is pretty catchy. The logo and title screen looked nice as well. I also think it is an interesting concept to keep a heart pumping. However I couldn't really get into the gameplay, as it plays like a rhythm game but doesn't have any sync with the music.

It's pretty difficult towards the end. When the heartbeat starts dropping, that works really well.

The poor patient never had a chance. The problems just kept coming and coming, and I could not keep up. My fingers are just not steady enough for a job as a surgeon, so I have to rethink my career choises. I think I'll be a gardener. Altough this medical job has a very lovely little background tune, so that's something to consider too. Hard choices are in horizon.

If your team used the engine for the first time, I must say that's impressive. I liked the visuals of the game the most. The game becomes quite tricky at the end so I didn't manage to see the end screen. Anyways, congrats on the game!

This song is way too catchy. Now I have it stuck on my mind :)

Very simple yet fun game, well done! A bit too easy I think, but then again I have played a couple of hundred hours of Stepmania

Wish this was a rhythm game. Would have fit the meta-narrative of keeping the heartbeat alive too.

Well developed game. No apparent bugs, and it's really good for your first time using the engine.

GRAPHICS: The heart animation looks awesome, and I really like the menu graphics as well.

GAMEPLAY: Fun and intense. I like the difficulty curve.

Conclusion: Cool game. As others have said, syncing with the music would be really nice, but overall this game is really fun. Good job guys!

Sucesso equipe! Mandaram bem!

It starts off way too easy ... until it becomes the complete opposite! I found this game a bit too unforgiving as when I made a mistake once and lose my rhythm, things would escalate too quickly and my patient would die. I think I subconsciously tried to match the rhythm of the music (very nice chiptune, btw!) and this didn't work out. Oh, also your volume levels are all over the place and casued me quite some discomfort: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP012VKTPV8
