The movement indeed is a bit sluggy (and glitchy if you try to move fast nevertheless), but we didn't have time to make this right. Same for the sound, we had to a lot of cut corners there.
Originally, we had even more "loops" and looping mechanics in the game, but they eventually got cut out because they had some game design issues and gameplay > theme.
I think more discrete (grid-based) movement and a "step" counter would help a lot in helping to communicate that you're trying to time up your movements from previous steps. It also seems like up/down movement is significantly slower than left/right, which felt a little weird. :)
All moves very slow, and having to move back and forth in some cases to move your previous selves around felt a little bit punishing.
Overall a great entry, keep it up!
Bonus points for the cat :)
And as I always do, tip of the hat for you for making a web version of the game,
@maxmitchell The idea was to make the first levels tutorial-esque enough to learn the game (like in Portal). But it sadly didn't fully work out. I'm happy that most players still get the mechanics sooner or later and that no one has reported a rage quit
@forgeronstudio That level is my favourite too! I really wanted to build another level with the same idea but in bigger. Sadly there was not enough time (I tried but in the end it was solvable with less clones).
@theaxe316 We don't plan on expanding this post game jam at the moment. But the game mechanic isn't patented, so feel free to build your own game on this idea.
