Holy War! by Arthur Ostapenko

[raw]
made by Arthur Ostapenko for LD36 (JAM)
This is the first time when our team - Avallon Alliance decided to participate in game jam.

We spent half of the first day to figure out concept. Decided to make the game about one of the first social technologies - religion.

You can create your religion and conquer the whole world with it in the parallel universe.

It is new kind of multiplayer game. Everyone can watch and anyone from spectators can become the player with his own holy book and temple.

The world is quite similar to our Earth. Humanoids called Quantars live there, with the same set of life's challenges and difficulties as our earthlings. They are fighting with each other, forming alliances, teach children. They can be a good or bad mood. Can occur hunger, scandals and world competitions in sports. Can suffer from meteorites and headache.
And they have a lot of cognitive biases and prejudices, like all the inhabitants of the universe at an early stage of development of their civilization.

To create religion select ten precepts and place your temple on any location on the map. Then you can change any precepts according to the situation.

We created everything during this LD but except music and font.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Very strategics and interesting sandbox :) UI animations and polish level are awesome. I think it's one of those games which i want to play after ludum to understand their mechanics deeper :)

Well made game and visually stunning. Cool idea but there isn't much gameplay (that's not necessarily a negative, this kind of game also can be enjoyable, it's just more of a relaxing/ zen experience kind of game). Music is also of high quality. Overall cool game, really pretty looking.

My problem with this game, is that I don't know what am I doing wrong. My religion just isn't catching on, and I have no idea why. If you have played Plague Inc. a very similar game where you control a disease, then you might remember that next to every mutation was a description that told you about the effects, and you could check every country to see if it was rich arid cold, so you could modify your virus to spread more easily in that country. But in this game I have no idea what am I doing wrong. Still I got to admit this is the most polished game I have seen so far, that map is just wonderful.
