Pub Crawl by BMo
Keep your buzz alive!
In this game you are sent out to a pub that is overrun with monstrous insects. Help out the barkeep by clearing out the bugs, and also keeping your tab active.
The more you imbibe, the more difficult it becomes to see your surroundings and keep your aim straight.
WIN by filling your intoxication bar and clearing out the insect nests and Queen. But be warned, shes not known to make an appearance. It may take a while, and more than a few drinks.
LOSE by sobering up! You'll constantly be sobering up the longer you take, and being swarmed by the attacking bugs will speed up the process.
ONE bartender to keep you company.
THREE different Weapons to exterminate the insect menace.
FOUR different Enemy Types to be wary of.
EIGHT different bug-based drinks to indulge in.
4/20/2020 12:38 pm - Updated itch.io executable. A last minute change prior to publishing before deadline left some (unintentional) overlapping colliders that were causing issues when buying from the shop (sometimes causing 2 things to be purchased at once). I made a hotfix to shrink the collider sizes back to their correct sizes.

Perhaps more obstacles on the levels would have given a bit more strategy to hiding from the spitters? It felt like you had to be constantly strafing diagonally to avoid them, but because you can't see very far away it's hard to plan a path that won't just lead you into a trap!
Neat, though! :D
@courtmac This was an unexpected bug, I resolved shortly after your playtime.
@omaskery Good to know about your injury, sorry about that! The plan was to give you different types of weapons to play with often to balance all the clicking, but it was tough for me to balance the costs in the timeframe, I think they need to be cheaper.
@shp If you actually fill the bar it triggers an end-game event where youll eventually fight a final boss. It was something I was able to squeeze in, but unfortunately didn't have time to explain to the players :/
The idea of having higher health correlate to more drunken mechanics is creative and absolutely brilliant. I also liked how it depleted over time, forcing you to consider how to destroy enemies quickly. There's a lot of content in this game given that it was made in 48 hours. The enemy hit and death effects were super satisfying, I think due to the combination of sound effects, color change, and particle effects. At first I thought the bullets were too fast, but I actually started appreciating the challenge as I got more experienced, particularly with the smooth shooting and movement controls.
Areas for improvement:
As other people have mentioned, I think the main weapon should be made automatic, possibly with the manual becoming an upgrade to let you shoot faster. It was just so much clicking, hurting my hands to the point where I couldn't even finish the (long and hard) game, even though I wanted to and now feel like I missed out on good content. Having a radar tell where enemies are could help make cleaning up any remaining stragglers easier, which would be particularly nice given that drunkenness decreases over time.
Overall:
This is a vast, enjoyable, fun game that feels very complete, and I only wish my index finger could have been strong enough to let me finish. :)
