Dark Kitchen

Please read before playing: This is a dark game that is intentionally upsetting, stressful, and bleak.

In order to not spoil the way the player discovers this, we won't say how, but please consider this a blanket content warning. There is also a more specific content warning at the bottom of this text.

In these current times, we totally understand that not everyone wants to experience work like this. God knows the real world is horrible enough right now! So, if you don't feel like something like that, please don't play!! It'll still be here later!

Your first night working under the new restrictions, but you've been a delivery driver for a while now. This city has been changing for the worst... It should come second hand, and you'll be done before you know it, and you can go to sleep and wake up tomorrow not thinking about it, and carry on.

Massive mood indeed. Didn't know what exactly I was doing and where but the dialogues, the music and that eerie atmosphere put me right in a dark mood. Properly awesome.

A new Sand Gardeners game is always one of the things I most look forward to each ludum dare, and you didn't disappoint. The controls are a little tricky to get used to at first, but the whole thing's just slick with atmosphere, and the drip feed the story is great. When I finally figured out what the power surges actually were...whew. The food descriptions did actually make me kinda hungry though :p

The mood of this game is quite frankly really well made. Had some problems with the music (one track in particular was incredibly saturated, had to tune down the volume WAY down to be able to play confortably), but anyway was still cool. Strange game, but nicely made overall. Wanna see more of it.

It took me a while to understand what the controls were and who was talking to who, but after figuring out I click on the map to move and the person I'm talking to is on the left I played through the whole thing. Still kind of mysterious what exactly was going on, but delivering a last meal was interesting to think about. Nice job!
