W.M.L.F by Webox
W.M.L.F takes you to a dystopian landscape, where you take the role of a Space cowboy with a teleporting lasso. Make loops of rope and activate the teleporter to send whatever is inside to the teleporting destination. But, who are you and why are you here, doing this?

@lukebandy thanks for playing!! They do move by themselves if you let them be for a few secs, but yes it could be cool to extend it to a pull mechanic. Thanks again! :D
@danielcmcg Controls are fixed now, you don't need to pres space to teleport the cows!
@hyblis fixed!! Thanks for the feedback! They don't get stucked to the wall anymore
Also the gameplay is Really solid!
@sayuri Hey I fixed that on an build earlier today! It's now played with J and K
@coding4rtist Thanks a lot for the playing! I'm glad you liked it! :D
@geroblacksmith Thanks a lot for playing!! I'm really glad you liked, It's an honor to be compared with Hyperlight haha
@quoclon Thanks a lot for playing!! Mechanics maaking sense right away are the result of the players who played the first version haha so kudos to them too!
@bicheste Thanks a lot for playing man!! haha nice to see that the game lived up to your expcetations :D
@theseusinabottle Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!! I've never played pokemon ranger, but I'll look into it!
@darkhex thanks for the feedback!! Not sure what do you mean about Unity's pixel perfect, the ropes are a made using a line renderer, I'm not quite sure how to make it look more pixelarty.. any ideas??
@arthurds thanks a lot for playing!! Really nice and fun. stream! :D
On the scenario, I'd suggest you to avoid using the wall's color on tiles that you can walk over! That should get rid of most of the things that might confuse some folks. Anyway, really great job on the game!
How did you implement the looping mechanic? We have a similar feature in our game, and I'm amazed at how smoothly yours works. I would love to know how you did that!
The movement of the player character was extremely satisfying. I found myself herding the animals to try and catch as many as possible in a single loop. I was focused on the experience of the core mechanics that I missed everything else that was going on. I would have liked to see title cards or some other way of bringing your additional elements into the game.
Overall, I had a very good impression from your game.
### Theme
I saw that the loop element was well explored by the game, but I would have liked to have seen the stuck part of the concept applied too. Perhaps you could have the loops hold the animals instead of immediately teleporting them out. It would have interesting implications on how to achieve an area clear.
### Riffs
I would love challenge modes. Off the top of my head.
- Good and bad animals - only remove bad animals
- Time attack - capture as many animals in as short a time as possible with as few loops as possible.
- Rush mode - keep the number of spawned animals below a threshold, with the spawn rate ever climbing.
- Multiplayer rush - when you teleport animals, they appear in your opponents field.
@redtarantula Thanks a lot for the feedback!! Yes tbh, I spent very little time on the itch page, I should put a bit more attention to it, I gues I just assumed everyone was going to play full screen
@forgeronstudio thanks for the feedback!! I'm glad you liked the game!! YES somebody noticed the little messages and stuff I tried to tell with the signs and stuff!! Thank you! :D ... As for the loop, I think I should write about it since several ppl asked me how I did it. Tbh is really simple and I actually though it's a really bad implementation, but I can share it! :D
@aimainiac thank you!! Glad you liked it
@atonic WOW, that's some super high quality feedback right there!! Thanks A LOT for taking so much time to write all that, extremely useful and insightful. I LOVE the challenge modes, I can see myself implementing them if there's some kind on interest on it. Oh the thing you mention about holding the animals, you see this game actually was designed using a "OMG I'm not making it in time" design approach. That's actually my first idea, and the character was actually a cowboy who couldn't make a lasso, with a funny approach. I ran into so many bumps along the way, that the game mutated SEVERAL times, a decisive one was the teleport mechanic. I just wasn't able to do the holding all the cows mechanic, it's really glitchy and didn't worked.. SO I made a quick manouver and say to hell with it, it's a telporting lasso.. and it's a robot cowboy now haha.. Thanks a lot for playing and for taking the time to write all that.. you rock!
@cg-fred THANKS FRED!! It's always nice to hear those kind of words from an experimented game developer as yourself!! I'm glad you liked it!!
@shubi-oni haha sorry you couldn't handle it! It ended up being a bit too hard, and believe.. I toned the difficulty down A LOT!! thanks to players feedback very early on the last day.
@matchaflavor Thanks a lot for the feedback!! And for taking the time to play!
@meatball thank you!! I'm really glad you liked the art! I'm not an artist at all so that means a lot!
This game is goooOOOOD. In a good way, lots of things I love, let's go through the most prominent ones:
1) Movement feels really smooth and good. Especially for a game about catching floating horses with a lasso, I appreciate the movement in this game. I find myself sprinting the entire game so I think you may as well make that the default movement if anything.
Very enjoyable!
2) Lasso takes a bit to learn but it is quite satisfying to make work! I enjoy the game a lot!
Some qualms I have:
1) This game would definitely shine so much with some funky music! Although you don't really have an audio category to rank on so that's fine.
Otherwise, this game is fun to play! I love it from the start to the end!
Movement and sound effects are really nice.
I tried to catch as many as possible in one lasso. I think getting extra points for doing that would've made a really cool mechanic.
The only things that I thought could be better
* The lassos never went away, which cluttered things up.
* There was no downside to sprinting so I did it constantly. Having a cooldown/duration would give me a resource to manage and I think that'd be fun.
Loved it!
@steventus hey! Thanks a lot for the kind words, I spent a lot of time on the lasso and the movement that I alsmot missed everything else haha, that's why it's so short, Spriting was supposed to have a cooldown or something but that feature was cut out too. Now that you say it it could indeed be the default movement, but I liked the camera moving away kind of effect. Thanks for playing and for the feedbacK!
@marcmagus hey marc!! haha yeah my artistic skills are not the best, thanks for the feedback and the stream as always!
@jaoel haha they were supposed to be cows, but a lot of ppl beleiived they were llamas, so whatever works best for you xD .. I should expand it to other modes that could include that kind of mechanics that you say!
@macaroni-dev thanks a lot for the nice feedback!! Lassos were supposed to disappear after a while, idk what the hell happened, and didn't really had time to look into it.. but that's 100% a bug haha. As for the cooldown, yes totally agree, it's kind of cutted out feature.. I really spent too much time with the lasso and the movement, Not my best time management for this LD haha.
Also love the tutorial design so player can learn the game much easier.
