Into the Pyramid by Galan

[raw]
made by Galan for LD36 (COMPO)
In 1798, Napoleon invaded Egypt. After successfully annexing the country, he set about looting its treasures. Soon he would find treasure beyond his reckoning, as he ventured Into the Pyramid.

Into the Pyramid is a simple turn-based strategy game, or the shell thereof. There is only one simple stage, and no win state. I hope you enjoy it anyways!

Controls
--------
Move: WASD/↑←↓→ (all units)
Melee: WASD/↑←↓→ when adjacent to enemy (Napoleon and Officer)
Shoot: HOLD [Shift], then aim using WASD/↑←↓→, RELEASE [Shift] after aim completes to fire. Releasing early cancels the attack.

Post Compo bug fixes:
• removed 2 enemies; Game is now 'beatable'
• fixed multiple units getting their turn after shooting
• fixed units taking damage after a melee attack, instead of enemies
• fixed units having only one move after the first player phase

Can't play because of missing .so

(./Into The Pyramid: error while loading shared libraries: libXinerama.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

Huh, what distro are you using? It runs fine for me on Ubuntu 16.04.

Not really my type of game. Still interesting though, and nice funny looking pixel art :)

Was a little confusing at first.
The graphics were pretty nice, and so was the sound but it needed music.

One bug i noticed is that if a unit was about to get their turn to move, and they die to the lasers, the game is stuck in a frozen state.

Otherwise the graphics were decent, and it could be used to make a HUGE full fledged game in the future. Good luck next time!

The graphical style is radical, the controls sluggish and the overall difficulty fiendish... Needs a few more patches I reckon.

Good start, solid graphics! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/lcfUdhXZ_XQ
