Years of constant search and sacrifice lead you here. The blade of yours should have never existed in this world. It's bringing only death. But if you don't feed it... Well... Then it will consume our existence. The blood oath given to your brothers and sisters is sacred. You must destroy it.

Incredible game lots of fun!
I love the art style and sound/music. The combat felt pretty nice, i would have liked to see abit more juice in the sword hit effects. I also noticed that i could run past all enemies and go straight to the boss, not sure if this was intended or not? It atleast gave me a chance to have a go at the boss a few more times.

The game is pretty difficult , but not in an unfair manner.

Well done, very nice game!

Nice game :D Dash attacking felt good but the hit stop was a bit overdone imo

It was fun playing, a bit short but I enjoyed my time here. The first time I didn't understand what the blood does. But good job your game is good!

Wow that pixel art is amazing! I really like the combat as well, i was playing on keyboard and i could imagine gamepad could feel better. :-) I think maybe using the mouse to drag which way to dash the enemy, would feel very satisfying. I also felt like i was hitting them a lot where nothing happened, i don't know if that was a bug. The audio is very good, and you don't find a lot of games in the jam, where they spend time on audio. Really good game, and has potential to be a lot bigger

Pretty decent little action game! It reminds me a little of the visual style of Children of Morta (although obviously not nearly as fully developed)

I'm not sure what the "it" you're keeping alive is... your sword's need for blood?

I liked the boss and the effects of his attacks. Overall, the graphics were my favorite piece.

One small tweak -- you could have put the controls for the attack and dash on the HUD somewhere to make it a little easier to figure out. "o" and "p" are kind of unique choices.

Nice entry!

(also, the web version worked fine for me!)

TOO MUCH SCREEN SHAKE, but good game in general. Nice art and gameplay.

You've read this many times already but yeah too much Shake and Hit Stop.
I didn't find it that hard because I felt like the sword's hitbox is very big (might be a bug), however the AUDIO and VISUALS are just amazing, it is too short but has a lot of potential.
It was fun, good job.

Nice mood, graphics and music. I think you can set the enemies more aggressive, in the end I just skipped them to the boss, which was tough :D

Great looking game with solid and enjoyable gameplay. I really like the atmosphere as well. It seems you've put a lot of effort into the pixel art, animations, lighting, sound design, and the attack and dashing abilities. I have a feeling you intend to continue working on this game.

Good job on this submission!

i like the way you boil twitchy combat down to a few simple controls. brutal!

The graphics and sound are excellent and create a very moody atmosphere.
The swordplay is fun but the dash needs tweaking somehow. The dash indicator is quite unintuitive. I also expected the character to dash forward if I pressed it without a direction. Perhaps a run gauge might work better.

Consider having to kill x enemies before entering the boss room.

Impressive entry nonetheless.

Nice action, a liiittle too much juice with the hit stop but it was still really cool. Great graphics on the characters, maybe the environment could have used a bit more love, but that's a jam for you :)

One of the best looking games this LD and paired with the audio it creates a really engrossing atmosphere. Also found the boss attack becoming sword hp to be an interesting mechanic. Solid work!

This was a very enjoyable game. Is there anything more after you beat the boss? Just one small issue I noticed. It is possible it get on the wall graphic and then get stuck. This can happen to the player and to the computer opponents. Other than that this game was pretty awesome! Oh and I beat it using the keyboard.

The art looked nice and very polished, good job on that! Like the soundtrack and sfx as well. The core gamplay is a little rough around the edges, which dampens the fun a little. Hit detection seemed a little random at times, especially with enemy attacks. The Boss killed me with his projectiles and I didn't even really understand how he hit me. But it was a nice change of pace to play an action game amongst all the other more games.

Thank you all for feedback! I'm really happy to hear you enjoy the art!

@misterkeefe yeah, I spent a lot of time on the player character design, so had to rush the environment graphics

Really good game! I enjoyed the combat a lot, the freeze frame plus sound effect give a very good feel of impact! Graphics is great! I did skip all the enemies and go straight to the boss though, not sure if that was an intended option but, overall really well-made game. Good job!

Loved the art and the sound design, great mood! A bit too short, I would have loved to see a couple more levels. I had to play the WebGL version and hit some suttering issues when attacking, but nothing too severe. Great entry!

The feel of the game is very nice! I like the graphics, the music the sound effects and killing an enemy is very satisfying with the little screen jitter you put in. Cool action game and the blood collection mechanic was interesting but I think you could have done more with it because now it didn't really add much.

i actually really enjoyed it! not much to complain about, maybe add a sound effect when the player dies to make the death seem more impactful.

Great pixel art and animations, the dash and attack looked and felt awesome, however, weird choice of buttons, I would have preferred A for attack and x for dashing, but maybe that's just me :)
I felt like the beginning was too hard for a level one - I don't know what to do yet and there's already 4 enemies that I can't seem to kill easily? After dying for like 10 times I just rushed through and ignored them and was able to make it to the boss, who also looked awesome and had interesting attack patterns :)

All in all the game was a bit too hard, maybe I'm just too bad for it, I don't know ^^
I felt this can be really good if you'd start with a tutorial and slowly soothe into this world - start with one enemy and give you the change to defeat him and antriduce blocking afterwards etc :)

Still a great game with music and even an endboss, congrats on finishing your game! :)

I love the audio of this game! Really fantastic work in this department. I think having a landing page / menu before jumping right into it would have been great and same thing as the outro. I think would be nice to have an ending page or just bring you back to a main menu at the end.

Enjoyed playing this! It is really satisfying to play with the screen shake and dash mechanics, especially the blur behind the character. Unfortunately manage to get stuck inside the wall but respawned so was fine.

This is one of those entries that blew me away. Amazing art, audio and mechanics. It felt really good to play and I liked the control scheme. Please, please continue working on this because there is so much room for expansion! I can easily see this being a full-release! Absolutely fantastic work!

Really great entry. Love the atmosphere, the art, the audio. Really fun and engaging to play. If I could nit-pick, I found I could cheese the game by just spamming the attack button because it was more of a strafe/lunge + attack? If I'm honest, I don't see the point of the actual dash button because the attack seems to move the same amount of distance while also attacking. I felt like it made it much easier because I didn't have to be tactical, I could just keep zoomin' and slicin'. Also I can't unsee the fact that it looks like the protagonist is wearing his cape back to front - I think designing the torso/legs and having the cape open like it typically is would have looked better.

Regardless, really great work!
