Fuel the Flame by TheStreet

[raw]
made by TheStreet for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

You need to keep the flame burning as bright and as long as possible by chucking fuel at it, but be careful to not get burned. 940096579343734303153025420847660741427200n.png 940747922862986290266698017101283175432192n.png

This game actually surprised me, I was expecting another regular keep the fire alive game, but no, the game is challenging and is a very nice combo between bullet hell and the theme, very good job, I think sound effects could help a lot too. Keep up the great work. The game deserves more attention.

Pretty difficult little game, too bad there didn't seem to be any sound or music when I played it? That might have added to the atmosphere a bit more. Still, great job!

This a really excellent design! This has been the most fun I've had so far looking through LD46 entries. I love that you need to be cautious about how much you feed the flame. It's a careful balancing act. I think this could be really great if you added sound and a highscore board post-jam.

The game was cool, nice tutorial, nice graphics, and lighting. The game would be better with sound and different objectives because the game became repetitive really fast. Overall, good job.

I found your choice for the game's aspect ratio to be really interesting. The game itself is also nice and has a good gameplay loop with players being able to replay the game fluidly without losing immersion. I especially liked your interactive tutorial with the player being able to see how the controls work in a little testing area. Overall, really great submission for this Ludum Dare!

This is pretty good! Even though the graphics are very simple, the use of lighting adds a lot to the visuals. My only issue is that splitting picking up and throwing between space bar and mouse was a bit counter-intuitive; it'd be better to assign both to just one or the other, since you can't pick up multiple fuel orbs anyway.

Nice challenge. I really like how the flare ups add a sudden burst of projectiles. Very minimal but elegant design using so few moving parts.

The game is super fun! the fact that I need to press space to pick it up instead of Auto picking it up can make it a bit weird to control and can be a bit annoying some times. Apart from that I really liked the lighting and visuals. Great Job!

I really like the bullet hell mechanic that is influenced by yourself. Essentially you pick the difficulty yourself and the higher you pick, the more points you get. I really liked that.

On the other hand I believe that the controls didnt feel good. Since moving was such a big mechanic, putting more time into how it feels to move would have been nice. Also to space for picking up doesn't feel great. Thats your choice of course. But since you only have shooting and picking up, there are a lot of unused buttons. Just give rmb picking up as well. Or left shift. The buttons are not needed, but if someone wants to play different, they can.

The aesthetics of the game are using simple art but look good regardless. Good job
