Plant Stranding by NykolaR

[raw]
made by NykolaR for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Deliver the plant to the planting zone, while keeping it as healthy as possible. You're the last hope!

Objective: The objective of the game is to carry the plant to the green marker on the minimap, while keeping it alive by not bumping it on the ground and keeping its water level within the healthy range. The plant will begin to dry out when not under rain, and will soak up water when under it.

Controls:

Mouse+Keyboard: WASD/

Controller (Recommended method of play for analogue control): Left analogue/DPAD moves, right analogue controls camera. X button jumps and, if in the designated planting area, plants the flower.

Try to traverse the landscape as safely as possible, while keeping the plant watered, and get to the end to watch it bloom!

Version 2 Patch Notes (April 20th 2020):

Bug fixes, and made game easier to complete so that the experience is more enjoyable. Detailed below

  • lessened damage taken from pot hitting the ground (from 2% to 1%)
  • lessened damage taken from pot being in unhealthy condition (dry: from 1%/s to 0.5%/s, soaked from 1%/s to 0.2%/s)
  • increased rain cloud spawn probability
  • made minimap more clear to read
  • fixed bug where wetness bar color wouldn't reset across attempts
  • fixed bug where cargo failure wouldn't occur from unhealthy condition damage

At first i didnt even know that reaching the heart was a failstate. That was interesting

Unfortunately the game itself may be unclear on the objective and I took a nap after completion, but I'm going to write an actual gameplay description now if you want to give it another shot later! (I'm guessing the heart you're talking about is actually the arrow indicating your current position on the minimap, and that your flower dried out which causes it to take damage). Either way, thanks for playing!

Wow, this is a fantastic looking Godot game. Pretty difficult, but I got the hang of it after a while. Neat game, and I'm surprised that this was done within 48 hrs! Nice.

Though I appreciate the strand type game joke. The game was really unforgiving and unclear. I think the game looks good and especially the 2d sprite in a 3d world + music was good.

Challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/eHokHalkfT0

Looks cool and was fun to try and walk around - would agree with others that it's a little unclear what's going on. A very nice entry!

This feels like a minimal 2d luke skywalker in a 3d moon simulator. Quite funny to watch, like that "getting over it" game.

Loved the graphics especially 2D character in a 3D game.
