Frictionless by Agent_Jo

[raw]
made by Agent_Jo for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Space is a dangerous place... Well not for you. You have mastered the art of magic and guns. But you're not alone up here and I'm not just talking about the endless waves of bad guys. No... your heart, your loved one, your whatever you can imagine idk... is with you. It is not so strong. Keep it alive! (Yeah, that's about as much story as ya gonna get)

Frictionless is an endless-action-topdown-shooter-bad.guys.go.pew.pew-difficult defense game with spells and guns to assist you on your meaningless journey.

--Catch Bullets to protect the heart--

For my first ever Game Jam I think I did pretty well. I didn't focus a lot on making art and more on making a playable at least somewhat fun game, which I just pray is not too difficult or too easy.

As expected: Every asset, sound, song and piece of code was made by me.

Controls:

W,A,S,D -> Move

RMB -> Dash

LMB -> Shoot (If you have Bullets)

Q,E,R,F -> Spells

Mouse -> Aim

My Highscore: 7155

Try to beat it!

I really liked this. Art is simple but does the job. But the crosshair is missing when shooting

First try heart was attacked a couple of time from the same direction and flew so fast that I could not keep up :'D Frictionless - RIP. I like the game, but it would be nice to add a simple acceleration to movement so it's just a little more smooth. I don't know if the reason is my screen, but I had UI elements on both left and right appear half outside the screen :/ Graphics are wonderful, though, really loved the estetics! Also I didn't understand where to see spell cooldowns.

Very fun, good looking and good sounding game. I just foud it a bit difficult to follow the heart, it ran away way too fast (IMHO).

This was overall a nice game, the visuals are great and it was fun to play, only thing dragging it down was the controls, they feel a little stiff almost unresponsive at times.

Unfortunately what's shown doesn't fit my 1680x1050 monitor, but it was still playable! Nice game

Is it intentional that you are moving to the left by default? Made it quite hard to control. Otherwise the game is pretty fun.

Good game! The title screen was really cool. I didn't really understand what to do at all when I first started, but I got the hang of things. At the start I thought the spells were different types of missile attacks rather than damage boosts etc. I think it'd be useful to see a cooldown timer as well. Quite a unique game and overall was pretty fun!

Really amazing work here! We streamed it together last night and I was super impressed. Love the colouring, design, UI and audio and how it fits together. I'd want to see better use of controls in the future as it was clunky. Very good job!
