Rough Sleeper by Orpartlu

[raw]
made by Orpartlu for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

This was our second LudumDare. Dissatisfied but with relief, we now uploaded the current state. You as a player "start with nothing". You don't have money or even a home. So everyday, you have to ransack the garbage for some food or bottles to eat, drink or even sell to the vendor. Maybe you find someday a job, earn money and become a millionaire!

NOTE: It is not finished. There are many bugs and missing functions. Maybe it is nice to look for other reasons and to give us the feeling, that this was not for nothing. The graphics are made by ourself with inspiration out of the world wide web. Everything that you see and hear, we have created within the time. We personally love the parallax-effect, the day & night cycle and the wonderful created graphics.

However, it was again fun for us and we will probably participate at the next LudumDare.

KEYS: A,D (move to the left or right), E (inventory), F (ransack or loot)

We used: Unity 2019.2.8f1, Visual Studio 2017, Photoshop CS6, GitHub, Maschine 2 Essentials + Hardware (Maschine MIKRO MK3, KOMPLETE KONTROL M32), Piskelapp (https://www.piskelapp.com)

The camera made it a little hard to play and it would have been interesting to find different loot than empty water bottles in the trash cans, but I liked the idea and the art was great. I would love to see this game with fewer time constraints. Good job and keep it up!

Hey @kushimoto
Thanks for your comment. I now played the html5-version and now know the camera problem you mentioned. This seems to be a bug in building. We will correct it soon. You should have a look after it again. We may develop it further to gain more knowledge.

Nice concept and art is nice. But the execution could have been much better with more variables.

nice art, nice concept, the music was really nice but it didnt loop so the reat of the playthrough was almost completely silent. i went too far to the right on the map and i think i kept on going for a while cause it took me some time to get back on screen. I didnt know if my inventory was 2 sloths or 4, but i couldnt pick up more than 2 items at once, and there as this one bottle that even with a sloth clear i couldnt get from the floor. i never actually understood how i managed to open the store to buy things, i did do it, but i dont know if it was with e or f. in the description for controls you didnt put up that you needed the mouse , so maybe add that up, just fir any confused possible players in the future. the thing to "get a job" flew out of the window when you can actually just go in a building and do the job to get money. to implement that, maybe as you go though garbage cans you can find a flyer and the go to a job interview to get the said office job.
other than that, you guys deserve a real praise it was really well done and smooth i liked it a lot
