Your Inner Child (Keep It Alive!) by godsboss

[raw]
made by godsboss for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Defend your childhood dreams in this absolutely epic tower defense game!

As always, I implemented a mediocre idea in a half-assed way without sound.

I ran out of time, so neither more buildings nor upgrades made it into the final (Ludum Dare) version. :-(

It's a bit hard to see which track the bad memories are going to go on, but the game works pretty well. I like the idea of having a tower defense game inside of a brain, lol!

Love tower-defense games. This was a clever twist. Opens up some interesting ideas to take it further, like what if the different areas of the brain (Occipital lobe, Temporal lobe, Parietal lobe, etc.) modify the behavior of the units? Neat concept! Great art!

Pressing `F`. Paying respect :tophat:

I liked the enemies, and the text. Super cool take on the theme :)

As a feedback I'd love to see resources more clearly, and maybe somehow highlight building spots and the road. It was all a bit the same to me, and hard to understand how enemies will move and where can I build.

I really liked the twist on the tower defence genre. Howevery I found that there wasn't really a progressiononce the level was build. But I really loved the game untill then!

figuring out the path and the building spots felt like a puzzle in itself. then knowing how many spaces were available and then how much you could afford to put into brains before putting money into weapons made the game feel like a series of bad choices, much like the theme is trying to warn me of!

nice game.

The graphics are awesome. Well done.
It turned out to be boring overall. After you generate enough income. You can continue building neurons.
I think it would be cool to have waves with more difficult enemies.

Fun twist on a classic genre! I like that there were several levels to choose from, and the text was spot on. If anything, an upgrade mechanism would have been a cool addition!

lol.
Graphics needs some work ( hard to see stuff) and sound and effects are really missing here ( it makes it more boring than it needs to be).

Can't go wrong with good old tower defense. Easy to understand you ran out of time and couldn't finish it, but at least graphics could be more "clear".

Love what you did with the theme! The levels were fun, I wish I had more time to have made levels in mine over the jam! Great game :)

Cool tower defense game-play, it was too easy to beat though. Maybe adding more stronger humans to make it a little harder. Great Job

Great tower defense game! It was a little hard to see the path that things traveled on, and it would have cool to have different weapons. Great Job!

Good job keeping the pixel ration consistent, the visuals are nice to look at and colorful. Your interpretation of the theme is great, too.

A nice tower defence! I enjoyed playing it. ;) There's a couple of things I'd change, though.

The enemy path is almost indistinguishable from the build locations. That makes it really difficult early on, when you have to quickly place some turrets in locations most needing them.

The amount of enemy types is pretty good, but what the game lacks is those enemies acting differently from each other, and to have a wider amount of turret types to counter those enemies.

Though I liked the idea of the baby in the middle slowly growing up as the various responsibilities reached it, it lacks a clear information on how much more it can take before the game is lost.

Other than that, the idea worked really well. I had fun playing it! ;)

Cute little tower defence game! I like your interpretation of the theme. I would prefer to be able to see at least the tower spots or even the level boundaries. Strategy is a bit limited, with only one type of defense.
