Anyway I thought the game was fun! Well juiced & action packed. Played two rounds and got a high score of 4000.
I would have liked to see my high score after dying. The explosion radius of the barrels and fast tiny guys was very unclear. I also would have liked to have some sort of move obvious indicator for when my guy took damage.
But overall, pretty great!
good job tho !
It starts to be a little bit too messy for me at some point, when the floor is covered with blood.
the only thing i missed was a screen in the end telling me how long i survived :see_no_evil:
reminded me a bit of crimsonland, which i loved! when you need inspiration for things to add, look at crimsonland. i think with more features this could even sell very well!
P.S. And what does right button makes?
I'd also like to see my score AFTER I die, btw. Good stuff, otherwise!
@wolf4d I changed the core idea of the game on Sunday, as a result, I remade most of the game in 2 days. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to balance. Also, I wrote a very simple drop system. Speaking about the right button, it's just a debug thing which I forgot to disable.
@bigwhiteshogun at the start of a jam I thought about the pure single-player experience, but on Sunday I changed my mind, as I understood that I couldn't manage to deliver interesting gameplay in such a tight time. What about difficulty, there is some kind of dynamic difficulty, but because of rebuilding game in 2 days, I didn't have time to balance it better.
@adamcyounis if I hadn't made a mistake with the estimation of game mechanics development, I would have made better AI and weapon system.
I really loved just everything about this game, the idea is so stupidly great! I really REALLY liked the visuals, specially all of the permanence. The room starts out clean and then I HONK some MOTHERDUCKERS and the room just evolves into a gory mess. There is a lot of attention to details, I specially loved the Goose head that gets progressively more beat up as you take damage.
The juice, is... sooooo juicy.
Yes it doesn't follow the theme 100%, but it kind of still does. Apart from that my only wish is that you would show my score when I die, because I lasted for quite a while and wanted to show you my score . Maybe you could do a post jam version that does this, if you do that please @me!
Great job, seriously fantastic entry!
Its just kinda sad you didnt try to fit the theme in there but aside from that nice entry
@team-on actually, I had made 8 weapons for the character, but eventually I left only doubleshotgun as I don't have time to implement interesting mechanics of getting new weapons during the fight.
Nice to see something like this.
My one criticism was that after playing for a few minutes it was very difficult to see anything over all the blood effects, which then didn't restart after you died.
Feedback stuff:
- Did you not use 'delta' for rendering and game logic? It was slow at 60fps, but then I went fullscreen to 144fps and the game was suuuuuper fast. It seems that you calculate things every frame without regard of how much time elapsed between now and the last frame.
- I'd enjoy movement abilities, like a dash and sprint on cooldown or with stamina mechanic
- More feedback when player gets hit. Screen flash, shaking quick red tint? Idk
@marcin-j unfortunately, I didn't use deltatime as right now I don't know how to use it with time scale together.
I think you made a really smart decision to use existing sprites and focus on crafting something that feels great to play.
Others have already made great suggestions, so I'd add that as a player I found myself wanting:
- ability to see a bit further out than the fixed perspective (perhaps mouse moves the view a bit).
- more ways to use the environment to my advantage (farming explosive barrels?)
- an overall goal to work towards (even something intrinsic like exploring new areas).
Wicked jam game!
@milestone-games @stefanie-leitch @ashashza @khud0 @asfdfdfd thank you for playing and feedback!
ps: got a crash when selecting FullScreen.

@ferdi thank you for help, I've found a problem, it was an old dubug code, which I had forgotten to comment, I'll publish a new version soon.
Really nice entry, colleague game designer! :3
Hope to see more from you on further jams! :3
Would be awesome as a multi-player . :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@pythong it's Game Maker 2, not Unity.
Controls are great!
As is sound/music choices. Graphics and visual feedback are good. I prefer cleaner environments in fast paced shooters, to faster visually distinguish what's going on on-screen. So I find there's too much leftover blood/body parts/debris everywhere.
Still, this didn't take away from the game much. All the projectiles are well contrasted with the background, even if an enemy gets slightly lost in the chaos.
Great entry, well done!
@papaver you should try postjam version!
Amazing you got this done in 72 hours! :astonished:
Had fun playing this game! :)
edit: and a highscore would be cool
